Hi everyone. I'm from Alberta, Canada and am looking to get involved with Western Writer groups. Is this community still active? Would like to share ideas and questions. I'm just getting back into writing after a 25 year break (family and work commitments) and will soon be publishing my first Western on Amazon. Thanks.

This review is from: Deadman's Lament (Kindle Edition)
A new voice in the western genre, Ms Jeppsen's Deadman's Lament is like sitting back and watching the best of the old cowboy movies. With a hero that is strong and true and a villain that would not be out of place in any genre, this story grabs you by the collar and drags you from start to finish.

She deftly handles many horrible topics with an understanding that what might be wrong in our modern sensibilities was common place for the time period. The villain of this piece could easily be dropped into a modern tale as a serial killer but he is perfect here are the leader of a band of outlaws.

She leaves nothing dangling as she concludes the tale and I know that fans of both Ms Jeppsen and of the western genre will enjoy this book for what it is, a rip roaring tale of good versus evil, right versus wrong. Buy it folks, read it and you will find you agree.

Hello! My name is Linell Jeppsen. I have written a number of novels- mainly in the scifi/fantasy genres, but have ridden off-trail lately and am now over halfway through a western novel called, Deadman's Lament. I am so proud of this novel, and I think it's the best book I have written to date. Problem... I don't know too many people who are "western" fans! I hope to introduce myself- make friends- ask advise and ultimately get as much exposure for Deadman's Lament as possible before I hit publish!  I hope I can make friends here for a start. I am posting the pitch and the cover art for the novel now... hope this is okay- BTW- Lament would make an OUTSTANDING FILM!

1885~ Spokane county sheriff Matthew Wilcox is haunted by the ghosts of his past and the evil deeds of a madman known as Top Hat, leader of the vicious outlaw gang called the Mad Hatters.
When Sheriff Wilcox learns that the gang is back in the area and raising hell again, he gathers a posse and heads into Idaho gold country in hot pursuit.  His hopes are high, but Top Hat has learned something too: the sheriff is coming after him.
Knowing that Matthew, the little boy he once kidnapped and terrorized, has strength, money and political power now, forces the outlaw into a cunning plan.
As Matthew and his deputies hunt down and capture most of the gang members, Top Hat turns the table and doubles back to Matthew’s hometown to wreak- havoc on everything the sheriff holds dear.
What follows will test every ounce of will and courage Matthew Wilcox possesses, but he will do anything to finally silence a DEADMAN’S LAMENT.
