Moms, I wanted to share this information with you in the hopes that (a) you'll help spread the word and (b) you'll consider joining us this summer!

We're hosting the "Lawn Chair Catechism" at CatholicMom.com on Wednesdays this summer, beginning on May 29. We're using Forming Intentional Disciples, by Sherry Weddell, as the basis for our study.

We have put together a discussion guide that includes both the executive summary of each chapter and discussion questions, and a two-page discussion question-only download.

We'd love to have you participate! You do not have to read the book to participate.

Our Sunday Visitor is offering the book for the incredibly low price of $10 through June 8, with free shipping. After June 8 and through the conclusion of our study, they'll be offering free shipping: https://catalog.osv.com/lp.aspx?code=F35BBD63

You can find all the information on the Lawn Chair Catechism page at CatholicMom.com: www.CatholicMom.com/LawnChairCatechism

Moms, let's pray for one another today. I have so many mom friends who are facing burdens this week with home, health, and family issues. Let's really lift one another up. I'm facing a pretty stressful week, and I've decided to bear it all with a grin and to offer it up for some very special moms who are struggling. I hope you will join me!

It's Ash Wednesday, which means #Lent  begins in a big way for those of us in faith traditions that celebrate it. (I'm Catholic.)

So, if you observe Lent, and if you care to share, how will you set this time aside?

I feel a little Spirit-led that I had been planning to read Pope Benedict's second Jesus of Nazareth book during Lent. And this morning, I actually DID do a little devotions thing with my 8yo (who helped read). I'm trying to NOT over-plan (my constant temptation for anything) and be open to this holy season.

How about you?

Has anyone thought of turning their New Year's resolutions into Lenten resolutions?  If they were good resolutions, renew them!

Do you need silence to pray? I get caught in this quandry pretty often. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

My kids are getting old enough (ages 2 1/2 to 12) that most of them will leave me alone if I say that mommy's trying to pray. When they don't leave me alone, I try to remember that Mother Theresa's nuns would always cheerfully abandon their regularly scheduled prayer for the sake of helping someone in need. That's an awesome attitude.

A while back, someone was asking for books on angels. And I canNOT find that post, don't have time to dig, so I'm going to post this cool find and leave it in the Holy Spirit's hands. :)

http://saints.sqpn.com/ebook-the-holy-angels-by-father-raphael-v-oconnell-sj/

ew free e-book, "The Holy Angels", by Father Raphael V O’Connell, SJ. A short book by a Jesuit priest in which he records and discusses all that we know about angels from the scriptures and the traditions of the Church. These formats will work on PCs, Macs, laptops, PDAs, smart-phones, e-book readers and other devices.

found via the [Book Club (Catholic Edition)] group here on G+

How does one go about finding a spiritual director? A priest or a nun preferably. I'd like to find one that has no attachment to my local parish.

I had this question from a reader this week, and I'm crowd sourcing you guys for help. Anyone?

At our mom's group, one woman shared her struggle with bipolar. She has been meeting with our priest and both feel called to start a mission to help people in our faith with mental health. Through support, church teaching, ect. She is asking for our help. Can you recommend any book or existing catholic program out there?

To those of you who fast, why do you do it?  Primarily to increase your self-control and grow in virtue?  Or do you do it because you believe that fasting and prayer can impact the world?  Would you be willing to do it for the cause of marriage?

Karee, my husband is a good faster. For many years he fasted on Wednesdays and Fridays...lately just Fridays and he does so as a prayer and sacrifice. He does it for all the reasons you mention.  I understand that the Bishops encourage us to fast from meat on ALL Fridays as a biblical prayer and fast for marriage and we do that as a family.  God bless you!
