Community Guidelines

This community was established to provide a good way for anyone to discuss chickens, share their experiences/pictures, and ask questions. As the community size grows, rules become necessary. Aside from the occasional blatant spam message that Google pre-flags, I haven't had to take any actions as a moderator. To help keep the need to moderate at a minimum, here are the basic guidelines for this community.

Post in English

English may not be the first language of everyone, but having a common language for all of us is important to help foster communication. Any posts or comments that are not in English will be removed.

Be polite

You don't have to agree with everything that is posted, but the expectation is that you'll not be offensive.

This includes not harassing people or encouraging others to harass them on other sites. If you don't like a person, for whatever reason, block them so that you don't see their posts.

Don't spam

I have zero tolerance for spammers.

This is not a store front

There is a fine line between sharing a product and advertising a product. If you make chicken related products, awesome, I look forward to seeing pictures, reading reviews, and discussing the merits of the product. Just remember that this not a store front and posts trying to peddle wares will be removed.

Your profile is a good place to put links to your store or product purchase pages.

Politics

This is not a place to discuss personal political beliefs. Discussions of laws and regulations related to keeping chickens is encouraged, but save your political party's propaganda for another community.

Chickens eating breakfast on this chilly morning. I think one of the white chickens is wishing she flew south for the winter. She took a long time coming out with the rest lol

Does a chicks Mother or Father determine egg color and size? I have never had mixed breed flock before. I have a buff orpington hen and an Americana Roo. What color of eggs will the chicks lay? I have attempted to research this via the Internet but I am getting mixed answers. Any help would be appreciated thank you

I've been making lots of food recently as a challenge on my blog but thought it would be nice to have a pre-Festive Season Party. I see the big chain supermarkets have the same idea - promoting pizza for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners! All the very best Sue
