The Road Menders... walking around a town considering subject matter must have been a daily activity. Like those of the #impressionism movement he was outside often sketching up ideas and often getting actual paint on canvas real time.

This painting says less about the menders and more about those amazing trees.

Subtle use of red in a window or on the woman in black and bold use of yellow & green with stark lines. #vangogh was a passionate man for all to see.

Vincent shows us here his amazing skill with the almond tree. Blossom here in many respects a metaphor to his art prowess. Remember this was done with very limited formal training. He was in fact a genius. #vangogh #impressionism #art #master

This quite abstract painting is one of my favorites. One of the great joys of his art was as a result of his move to southern France, where he absolutely pushed his imagination skills to the max. Together through paint application and color invention he produced such epic art, that has rarely been equaled. One may look at Matisse and Fauvism of course, however these works followed Vincent and support the evidence that he was the trailblazer for this newborn mastery and genre. As ever these are my own thoughts - Russell Greig-Bartram. #vangogh #vincentvangogh #art #painting #postimpressionism #cubism #artmasters #cypress #green

If it is drama you seek than look no further. Look how bold black lines against dark blue can create a dramatic mood. The curves of the twisted limbs they tell a story of Age and endurance...we immediately identify the Olive Grove. This is about life, it's about landscape and passion. The grass is sun baked and crisp with patches of green at the base of the trees......They almost look as they are on the move. Perhaps they are! #vincent #vangogh #art #painting #impressionism

Yellow blue & green these three colours that have almost become a hallmark of #vincent. This Terrace Cafe painting showing off his skill of drawing well spaced subject matter before applying his amazing colour palette. The mark of things to come. #vangogh #impressionism #master
