Balazuc, France
A couple more pictures from our spring holiday. Yes, I am, we are found of these little villages. They personify a message we get from the distant past, one telling us that previous centuries have also witnessed some very sweet life.

The Stone Sculptures Up on the Facades
There was a time where one would spend a lot of money to live inside a work of art. A couple hundred years later, that trend can still transform a simple walk through historic Bordeaux into a journey rich in surprising discoveries, ... and neck gymnastic.

Les Grands Hommes
In the heart of Bordeaux, ending an avenue, in the distance I noticed an intriguing architecture. I was a little disappointed as I walked closer to find a shopping center, I am not sure what I was hoping to see instead. Anyway that is the pleasure of discovering new places, seeing everything for the first time, with big open eyes like a child.

According to Google Maps, the first picture of the series which I have also uploaded there has recently reached 20'000 views. Amazing the impact that images have on us.

Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux
Two weeks ago the cheerful colors of the fairground had us forgotten a dull sky as the first onlookers were beginning to arrive

Don't know the purpose of this place but I liked the wet tiling, its colors and the classic style used for the walls and pillars. I suppose it had just been washed and so nicely matches the weather we had outside.

Musée d'Aquitaine
I might someday find the time to further investigate about some of the countless artifacts, figments and art pieces which have kept my attention in the musée d'Aquitaine - from the stone age, the iron age, the Roman period, the triangle trade century - but I am not seeing when that moment may come. Meanwhile I stored everything in this dedicated album.

The time I could spend in this superb museum was definitely the highlight of my stay in Bordeaux. I guess I am really getting old to write something like that 😊.

Galerie Bordelaise, Opened since 1834.
The creation of the passage is due to the initiative of four rich South American merchants, living in Bordeaux after leaving Mexico during the war. They are the Marquis de la Torre and MM. Gimet of Yrigoyen and Caillavet. The initial name was the passage Galerie de la Torre because Ramona de la Torre, born in Veracruz in 1804, and belonging to one of the richest families in Bordeaux, intervened in its construction. The gallery is a private property, belonging to 65 owners including several traders but the central passage is public and is classified as a historical monument.

Good Wine in the Making
In my standards the Garonne river is a beast and I went to take a closer look a it from the Pont de Pierre just from above a bridge pier.

A local guide told us this river holds the secret of all the great wines. The sediments relantlessy carried by the river are essential to the centuries-old wine tradition of the entire region. Their fertility for vineyards is unmatched.

La Dolce Vita
The Italians might have invented the concept but the Frenchs can be quite good at applying it. I was just a wee bit too early for these shots. After sunset a new life was breathing through here and, unlike Barcelona, not from idling tourists.
