IN Defiance by +John Mefford {Book Review}

IN Defiance starts right away with (triggering) action and does not slow down. I was gripped from the beginning to see what would happen and I hated putting the book down. (I fell asleep more than once with the book in my hands!)

The book starts with a quick peek into Ivy’s childhood and goes into a situation with one of her foster kids.

I love a good ‘puzzle’ and that was definitely what this was. While no one wants to think a kid did something wrong – like murder – sometimes evidence says otherwise. But when a child has a messed up childhood; psychology takes over.

There are a lot of shady characters and a lot of psychology. Plus there is Ivy’s background and a couple other seedy situations that left me turning pages.

I loved this book and cannot wait to read more in the Ivy Nash series. I have always been a fan of John Mefford’s writing and I think he’s getting better!

Dead Lawyers Don't Lie by Mark Nolan {Book Review}

I love the thriller genre so I was excited to be able to read this book. There is nothing like trying to figure out who done it before everyone else does.

I was pulled in immediately from page one. A slimy lawyer that no one likes being threatened within the first few pages – who wouldn’t get sucked in to see what happens. Especially when said slimy lawyer starts something that needs to end.

I love nothing more than a good thriller that leaves your heart pounding as you race to read what is going to happen next. Plus, I am a born detective so trying to figure out the who kept me thoroughly engaged in the book.

I really enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to read more.

Rescued by Love by +Melissa Foster, New York Times Bestselling Author and Chocoholic

Oh me, oh my. Unlike any other Melissa Foster book I have read; I loved this one too! It was definitely an interesting change to have the female not want the relationship and the man to want more in the start, but dang! This book was hot.

I loved the bantering and the flirting. The chemistry was hot. The relations were… wow.

Addison and Jake clearly were made for each other. They are both quite similar with their big heads (and egos) but together – they really were something else.

I loves that every book Melissa does, allows us to catch up with past characters while we fall in love with the main characters (characters we briefly hear about in past books.)

While they all can technically be read as stand alone books; you won’t want to read just one. They are far too hot to stop at one!

Wily and the Canine Pandemic by +Michelle Weidenbenner is an impactful and entertaining story reviews Doris Humber.

This was my first time reading the work of Michelle Weidenbenner.

Even though it is a book for young readers, it was quite the delightful story. I would definitely encourage younger and older readers alike to read this novel. It touches on such important life lessons for all ages; Wily’s passion and perseverance will leave you with much admiration.

A very impactful and entertaining story from start to finish….fantastic read!

+Nicki Conroy of Nicki's Nook loved Whisper of Love by +Melissa Foster, New York Times Bestselling Author and Chocoholic and strongly suggests you pick up your own copy!

Peaceful Harbor Bradens are some of my favorite so I, of course, grabbed this book and read it with little stopping. I have found Tempest to be one of the most interesting of the Bradens. I have not read all of the Love in Bloom series but she has always stuck out to me. Maybe it’s her business. Maybe it’s because she is a female – I love female characters, especially strong ones. Maybe I just like Tempest.

This book is set some place new. Tempest actually leaves Peaceful Harbor to get her business going in another town. She is living with her cousin, who has no schedule and loves to be up late. Tempe cannot keep up with the life being lead in that house so goes looking for a place of her own to live. In doing so, she finds Nash and his extremely intelligent son Phillip.

For allowing someone new and totally unknown into their lives, Nash and Phillip almost immediately trust Tempe and sparks fly. I’m not totally sure that she gets much more good rest once she moves because she is always thinking about her landlord.

I really loved this story and strongly suggest you pick up a copy and give it a read.

Wily and the Canine Pandemic by +Michelle Weidenbenner has good lessons for the young and old reviews +Michele Bodenheimer of Miki's Hope.

I have read several of Michelle Weidenbenner's books--both for children and adults--they never fail to please.

I so enjoyed reading this book--even though it is meant for young readers. Most adults would I think. The story line is one that Children would really love!! It also has some really good lessons in there about combating bullying and fears of the unknown. It will also prove that being a nerd can be a very good thing (even if your Dad wants you to be more of a sports guy).

Willy, our hero in this book, starts out as the proverbial nerd--bullied by classmates, no friends. Even his Dad is disappointed in him. But Willy has a suspicion that the newest experiment he has been working on can save all the dogs who have been dying from a virus. His Dad locked his "black box" away. Then Willy's own dog caught the virus and died. Willy got the box out with his trusty knife (he picked the lock)-and low and behold--he was able to bring his dog back to life! THEN-the very next day he was abducted by kids who all had special powers and was taken to a camouflaged space ship which hovered above and around Costco run by a very mean Centaur.

What transpires--well you will have to read this for yourself or let your child tell you all about it. There is even a lesson to be learned in here for Moms and Dads--and a very important one at that.
