Maple Leaves, Syrup, & Bears, Oh My! Eh?!
The Infamous Run for the Border 2016
©Tisha Luk

It started last week, and today has increased vastly. You might be asking what, pray tell, is she speaking of? Well alright, I'll tell you. Apparently my recent PR status in Canada has made me quite the expert, well at least in the eyes of my fellow Americans who are in panic mode over this year's election and impending doom.

So, instead of fielding all these individual requests for information, I thought I'd take a minute and write it all down for the masses, and in one collective swoop have it all done with. Are you ready for the secret to Canadian immigration success? Can you handle the truth?

#1 If you are serious, and only if you are really really SERIOUS about making a move to Canada, get a consult with an immigration lawyer. They will give you the no BS answers to your questions and within 30 minutes you'll know if you are eligible to come over or if you need to dig a tunnel to Mexico. Sadly, you may want to buy that shovel now, because Canada is very selective in who they let in, which is what makes them so damn awesome!

#2 Don't get immigration advice from folks who moved here pre 9/11. It was a cakewalk for them. They have no idea that the struggle is real these days. They just walked over and said, can I stay here, eh?! And boom, they were here! It doesn't work that way anymore. NOT AT ALL!

#3 If you don't have a university degree, own a fortune 500 company, or have family here who are able to sponsor you, give up now. It isn't going to happen. Like for real. Just walk away, go buy your shovel, and head south.

#4 Ignore everything else and always refer to #1. It is the only true path to a successful immigration. It will cost you about $4000, but it's worth it.

Now that all that is said and done... stop being douche bags! I swear it's like Y2K all over again, and guess what? Were still here! Y2K didn't kill us and this election won't either. We'll get our results, lament, and carry on. It's what we do folks. The media has you in panic mode, thinking that the world will end. #Pleasestopthepanicnow !

If Trump wins, all that will confirm is that at least half of our great nation is pissed off enough to elect an elderly toddler who throws fits and will need a babysitter, which the taxpayers will provide for him.

If Hillary wins, we will have our first woman president, yay! And if you're worried she'll take your guns and force you to not hate everyone, you can always buy that shovel, load up your guns, and head south.

But for the love of all that is good and decent, stop fighting with each other. If this year's election isn't what you'd hoped for, be prepared for the next. Research and support GOOD candidates. Because honestly, if you want to blame anyone for where we are with this election, blame yourselves. You are, after all, the ones who voted these candidates in when you voted in the primaries. Next time try voting based on real issues and not propaganda. You'll thank yourselves for it, the world will thank you for it, AND, you'll sleep better at night.

Just sayin' ;-)

No Entry or Exit, what shall it be?

It makes a difference, doesn't it, whether we fence ourselves in, or whether we are fenced out by the barriers of others? ― E.M. Forster

Just an image of the fading, yet still lovely, fall colors we found on the Ardagh Bluffs trail yesterday. It was such a lovely day to get out and explore, and I had the best company in the world! My wonderful husband, +Brandon Luk. I'd say it was a perfect day.

Anyway, I liked the look of the old fence post struggling to keep its footing, as the elements wear away at it's foundation. I wondered if the fence had be placed to fence things in or keep them out.

This cheesy little squirrel was quite jealous of the attention +Brandon Luk was getting yesterday during our portrait shoot, so he/she decided to insert itself into the scene. Click!

Where Fairies Wander
©Tisha Luk

Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire,
I do wander everywhere,
Swifter than the moon's sphere;
And I serve the fairy queen,
To dew her orbs upon the green.
- Fairy in A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 2, Scene 1
