Well apparently +Google+  has decided it won't let me keep using a half way decent service that has seen nearly 90% of the people I interacted with disappear over the last 2 years because Google stopped carrying about us.

So I think this may be one of my last posts which is sad.

I have started using Instagram a fair bit so feel free to catch my stuff there @robelliottca

So lets potentially end things with something near the beginning.

Though I enjoy doing Landscapes and live near one of the natural wonders of the world I still have been focusing on other areas lately.
Portraits and as it happens the occasional wearable sculpture.

This is a shot near Niagara Falls (that you can see in the background) of the wonderful Miranda in a dress made totally of plastic, and tinfoil.

This is kinda a landscape so I thought I'd put this here. If you'd like to see more of my work I do have a portrait collection (https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/cf7BFB)

Or you can follow me on Instagram which is a combination of landscape and portraiture

Not 100% sure I'm done processing this, but.. this is the new campus of my old high school in Niagara Falls. Decided to try to do some star trails. Turns out the North Star is almost directly over head which I think adds to it.

The clouds were just too interesting not to give it a Black and White treatment.

This Saturday was the 5th Google+ Photowalk in Toronto, we ended up on Toronto Islands at sunset to take photos. As it happens it is also the 40th Anniversary of the CN Tower. Though unintentional nearly every building in this photo was built after the tower. Which seems fitting.. a skyline under 40.

As always feel free to check out this photo and more on Instagram @robelliottca

Brock Monument, Niagara

In October of 1812 the United States attempted an invasion of Upper Canada. General Issac Brock was returning from the successful Capture of Detroit and the Michigan Territory. A force of Six Nations, British Regulars, Metis, Canadian Militia (including a Coloured Company petitioned for a personal hero of mine Richard Pierpoint as Slavery had been abolished in Upper Canada by this point they had a vested interest in not becoming American) fought to repel the invasion. The Site of Black and Native warriors mixed with Strong currents in the Niagara River scared most of the American invasion force from crossing the river. A large number of American went into hiding during the battle.

Though General Brock fell at the musket ball of Kentucky Sharpshooter The Americans were repelled. Emboldening the people of Upper Canada and I personally believe helping to instill a sense of Multiculturalism that exists today. Brock is entombed in the monument.

The war lasted until 1815 and it's ramifications felt well into the 1850s. Niagara was the major front during the War inside British North America with land changing hands fairly regularly. Ultimately the borders stayed mostly the same. Most importantly British North America didn't fall.

Wednesday was a very strange weather day. Was in Toronto for the first time since December. Start the day in thick fog,  was nearly blown over by wind, rained on, blinded by sunlight, caught in a hail storm and saw wonderful moon light. In that order.
