Yep, it works!
Everyone expected the Nougat OTA to drop by now, but I'm pretty sure we have at least a week or two before we see it. Meanwhile – one of the most anticipated features is the new HD Amazon Video app. As we all hoped, one of the lucky early adopters nicely ripped the app from the New Shield TV.

The previous sideloaded versions only allowed standard definition that's why a lot of people didn't want to use it

Sounds like if you already have the Shield TV OG, there is not going to be a reason to upgrade. All the features appear to be coming via OTA later this month.

BTW, recently we got No Man's Sky and The Witness on Shield TV.

The latter is a native Android game and pretty damn good. Will twist your mind.

It isn't cheap - and it isn't for everyone - but Google has a generous return policy. Check it out.

Honestly, I really enjoy No Man's Sky occasionally. But I didn't hear any of the hype leading up to it so I think that helps.
Edit: The Witness is great!

The idea was to slowly build a collection of apps with included Leanback shortcut apps. At the time I had to generate …

+Shane Monroe that's insane to have the SD slot absent but I guess they might be pushing us to use usb3 devices which would be faster. Maybe it has an extra usb port as a result of the missing SD. But why release pretty much the same device with what I consider minor changes - we can get all the apps features and updates and we can get a micro phone or just buy the remote controller and we are basically at the same level. I think the remote controllers were the only thing they needed to release along with the app features in an update.
