#Colcacanyon, second deepest Canyon on Earth! The best season is from January to March when the waterfalls are huge, especially the Huaruro one!
If you wanna save a lot of money, take your tent, stove and pots as well as a water filtration system (10 soles for 2.5L of water inside the Canyon). Buy your food when you are in Arequipa since there are not a lot of things in #Cabanaconde.

I was sceptic about #arequipa , the second largest town in #Peru . However I'm glad I've made the trip: Beautiful spanish white stone buildings, three 6000m high volcanoes surrounding the city (Chachani, El Misti and Pikchu Pikchu), lovely people, amazing food... At the end I'm staying longer than expected!
I'm also near Bolivia and titicaca lake, my next adventure!

#Cusco , one of the most popular city in #Peru . I stayed 10 days there but I didn´t see much (only the markets, plaza de armas and the #twelveanglesstone) because I was recovering from my 7 days hike and working on my blog a lot.

I may return to Peru anyway!

#Ollantaytambo , such a beautiful village where I spent a night (in the most beautiful garden ever!). This is the last place in Peru invaded by conquistador and defended by the Incas. This explain why there are constructions you won't find anywhere else in Peru: Amazing wall with no space between the blocks (you can't even slide a paper sheet), running water in every house, massive construction and fortress high in the mountains, etc.

Es un pueblo muy hermoso!

I spent 2days in #Jauja. People here have a heart full of love and are easy to talk to. Moreover it's cheap!

Here is what happened my first 15minutes in this village: I was looking for some "Papas a la huancaina" in the street market, couldn't find any, seat at a foodstand and after a chat with the standholder I've been invited for lunch and breakfast the next day!

The following day I went for a quick run but at 3400m OSL I really struggle to go and return from the Paca lake. It's where I saw my first Llama! About Paca, you can find some delicious Pachamanca dish there. #Concepción and #Ingenio are worth spending a day too, especially if you want to try several specialties from Junín Region.

I only spent a morning in #Huancayo. People found weird I wanted to share my panettone with them. It was really awkward and I didn't like this atmosphere. After my visit to the "Parque de la identidad Huanca", I got a cab to Jauja, a small village 40km north of Huancayo with a excellent culinary reputation!

#caminoChoquequirao #ChoquequiraoTrail

One of the toughest walk in Peru joining #Cachora to #AguasCalientes:130km and more than 8000m once you get to the top of the #MachuPicchu, which I will do tomorrow!

Here is my roadbook about this 7 days Hike in some of the highest mountains in South America!

I'm getting closer to the #CordilleraHuayhuash  day after day! This time I decided not taking a car to reach the next town. Instead I walked through the mountains from Huarin to Baños  , a thermal village also famous for its cheese!

I got a short 2minutes lift with a lovely couple to reach the beginning of the track. Then, I enjoyed a lovely 3h walk with several rain showers until Baños. The locals were quite curious when they saw me setting up the tent to dry it. This situation allowed me to chat quite a lot before my afternoon tea!

After I left Choras, the next town I went to is Huarin . Their is not much here but the landscape is stunning: waterfalls, canyons, huge elevation gain between the river and the summits, corn and potatoes fields, ... It's also getting colder. At least I'm in good conditions to test the quality of my equipment! The locals in this area are very kind and again, I will join a family in a field for lunch: steam potatoes and oignon salsa! delicious

Estenio, the family's father I stayed with in Huanuco, suggested me a different route before I leave to Huancayo. Indeed, I'm not far away from the #CordilleraHuayhuash , second highest mountain range in Peru composed of summits over 6000m. The Yerupaja is the second highest pic and the highest peak of this mountain range and it's where I'm going.

To help me in my trip, Estenio called the local radio: Radio Tropical 103.90 Mhz in Choras . Like that, the people from the surrounding areas of Choras could hear what I'm planning to do in their lovely region. I've also saved the message in my phone to play it in order to find quickly a place to stay with a random local in each town I will cross.

Near Choras is #Garu   , a pre inca archeological site with many ruins. Located on a hill at 3800m, I also feel for the first time what we call "altitude sickness". Hopefully my body will adapt before I go to Queropalca: Gateway to the Cordillera Huayhuash and the Yerupaja.
