New PC Processors Will Only Be Supported By Windows 10

Microsoft will not support new processor types, such as Intel's Skylake platform, with older versions of Windows including 8.1 and 7. This means that if you buy a new PC soon, you won't be able to use it with any version of Windows other than Windows 10.

Your days of hiding out on Windows 7 may be coming to a close, especially with the company moving to aggressively upgrade existing Windows Vista, 7, and 8 users to the new version. They're clearly determined to reduce their code commitment to a single major version of Windows.
