FACES & IMPRESSIONS... Antibes, France

Unbelievably, the final day of "The Artist's Voice" was here before we knew it! Whoa, time flies.

We spent our last few hours of adventure in Antibes... a place you could spent a month and never even scratch the surface. The day was more like a handshake, but it was a moment that no one - especially me - will forget.

These are just a few of the faces and impressions that caught my attention and made this final day so incredibly special. People + Connection + Moments = Magic!

Photos taken with a combo of iPhone 7+ and Fujifilm X-T2 and 50mm f/2 lens... all processed in Snapseed.

The Artist's Voice Photography Retreat: September, 2017
We did a Facebook LIVE from Villefranche-Sur-Mer last week - a few members of our group stop by to say hello!

IMO, Villefranche is one of THE most gorgeous spots on the French Riviera. I swoon every time. I'm always so thrilled that cell reception is good here, because it means I can say hello and share the fun in real time with y'alls. (although clearly, I'm a little late with this one. Doh!)

"The Morning Times": Cannes, France
Part 7 of my series "The Everyday Genius of Your Artistic Voice" is live!

This one is about post-processing; complete with video!

Part of any conversation about artistic voice in photography simply MUST include post-processing, dont'cha think?

So I grabbed 3 photos which I had very different ideas about and share the thinking behind each one's editing. They range from very realistic to slightly fantastical, like this image here, which I ALSO show.

I hope you'll join me there - and while you're there, leave your comments, thoughts -including those sharing what you'd like to see more of!
The image shown:

Taken in Cannes, France during my last "The Artist's Voice" photography retreat in June. The next one comes up in just 3 weeks!!
PS: I just released the retreat dates for next year!
Haven't made the official announcement yet, but I can tell you this much: June 10-15, 2018.

More soon.

It. Will. Be. Awesome!!

Easy like Sunday morning listening and reading!

Part 2 of my conversation with +Lauri Novak in my "Everyday Genius of Your Artistic Voice" blog series is now live:

We're chatting "Art & Business" once again in this one... and sharing SPECIFIC ideas about getting yourself out there as a photographer. Lauri's put her strong background in marketing & PR to work in her own business... and offers 7 tips for effectively shifting her game.

My goal with this entire 8-part series is to shed light into just how simple putting the whole notion of "artistic voice" to work in your photography and life is! And yet... doing so can profoundly shift your entire foundation in wondrous ways.

Doing it happens in by degrees... by applying "what I love most" in practical ways that you may or may not have thought of quite like this before.

It's all part of a larger conversation... and we've only just begun!

Feel free to share this post - and your thoughts - here or on my blog. ;)

The Everyday Genius of Your Artistic Voice, Part 5: "Art & Business" is now live on my blog! It's a good Sunday (or Monday!) read.

The road to successfully creating even a part-time business out of something you love has many steps, curves and choices to it. And THIS topic has proven to be juicy enough to warrant TWO episodes within my 8-part series on Artistic Voice, and how to successfully weave into real life.

I recorded this one with the fabulous +Lauri Novak... and she's got some super down-to-earth, practical ideas to share!

We chat about the utter and complete relevance of making decisions from the point of view of what you love and what you know to be true for yourself. Sure that seems only sensible - but how many times does popular opinion, someone ELSE'S opinion - or your own naysayin' critical inner voice alter you thought you'd like to do?

We're NOT business coaches, nor do we play one on TV! 😜
In these two episodes, we simply share what's working in our own lives - and in the creative lives of others we've observed. "Artistic Voice" - by whatever name you call it - can mean the difference between creating a business and life of sheer joy and, well, pretty much anything less. And why settle for anything less?

It's a conversation worth having.
I hope you'll join in and share your thoughts too, either here or over on the blog!

This photo is one of Lauri's from the blog. Her architectural work is gaining more attention by the day. You'll why this genre has really clicked for her... from the inside out. Small wonder they've been noticed! Next level of success, here she comes!

It's here:

Oh - and the "A" to last week's "Q" is here:
(The question was asked was so good, I had to make a post just for it!)

I hope you'll join in the conversation and share YOUR thoughts over on the blog.
This photo? Oh, a magical evening at Lake Tahoe - this couple had just gotten engaged and were up on the rocks having their picture taken. By me! And their photographer as well. Fun part: it was a surprise for her. :D Guess he was pretty sure of her answer...

Layers in Truckee: Truckee, CA

A juicy Q&A on my blog today: stemming from my 8-part series: The Everyday Genius of Your Artistic Voice.

It addresses this question:
Do you think that to have a signature in photography you have to stick with one genre? I love street, landscape, travel and wildlife photography, and probably a few more! Do I need a different signature for each one? Several people have told me that to be “successful”, whatever that means, that I should stick with one type of photography. I’m not sure I can do that though! Would love to know your feelings.

Ever wonder about that yourself?

If it lights you up, go have a listen/read and let me know your thoughts in the comments over there!
