'Hoop Pine Forest'

Cumberland State Forest is a tranquil forest oasis in north-western Sydney. Just a few kilometres away from our home. There are great forest walks and picnic spots. We especially like the walk and picnic area just near the Bunya and Hoop pines! And, most importantly, there is a cafe in the forest. Flat white coffees!!! An essential feature of all modern forests. Alas, though, Miss 10 and Miss 8 were disappointed that there was no wifi. Just hoop pine trees!!!

I thought I would post this image today of one of my favourite spots at Mount Tomah in the Blue Mountains. Mount Tomah is about 90 minutes drive north-west of our home in the Hills District of Sydney. There are many walks with spots exactly like this amid the rainforest. A great place to escape from Sydney's predicted wicked heat today. A record 41 degrees celsius or more? Ridiculous for spring. Not even summer.

We always venture up to Mount Wilson in autumn and spring - and sometimes winter - to experience all the colours of the trees. We visit the open gardens such as Breenhold, just at the top of the mountain (on the left). We also love the walk along Queens Avenue! And we come here to Waterfall Road to have our picnic. The girls love to immerse themselves in the autumn leaves!!
Mount Wilson is about 90 minutes north-west of Sydney, along the Bell's Line of Road - Blue Mountains.
