Here's a few of my favorite words

Welcome to a few of my Favorite Words collection. About once a week, usually on Wednesdays I post a new favorite word. Since I just hit 100 posts, I thought it was time to make a "welcome" pinned message.

I've always had a fascination with words and their usage, but I don't claim to be an expert. I just post words that "speak to me" and hope others will like them too. Thank you so much for stopping by. I appreciate it!

For this word, I thought this quote went with it nicely: A smile is the universal welcome. - Max Eastman

I like the word, "Ave" because just saying it out loud is soothing, almost lyrical.

Pronounced: [ah-vey, ey-vee]

This word can also be used as a farewell. It's also an interjection. To capture short bursts of emotion, you can use an interjection, which is a single word, phrase, or short clause that communicates the facial expression and body language that the sentence itself will sometimes neglect. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/ave

This collection will always be the main place I'll post new words, but I also have a words community if you'd like to join. It's a place where you can post your own word finds too. You'll find it here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/102751911907901266499

Forgive me my nonsense, as I also forgive the nonsense of those that think they talk sense. - Robert Frost

Pronounced: [fluhm-uh-did-l, fluhm-uh-did-l]

Flumadiddle is an Americanism that arose in the 1840s as a combination of flummery, meaning "complete nonsense," and diddle, meaning "to fool with."

This flumadiddle has got to stop! I can't take any more!
