Okay, on I go with the mandalas I've completed recently.

I often experience a love affair with nature. I know her dangers, disasters, threats...still I celebrate her mystery and uncompromising beauty. I love Earth and cherish the relationship I have with her. These nature-based mandalas celebrate what I feel.

End of Year Mandalas 2016
I began working on Mandalas again because of a request from some folk who are interested in my work. Then the mandalas took on a life of their own, as these symbols of wholeness entered my world. I created nearly 20 mandalas in all, each one with a special feeling, a unique energy. I've decided to post them in small groups, although a couple may end up standing alone. Here is the first.

The red color, reminiscent of the base or root chakra, connects me to Earth's deep, magma-filled core.

Tree with Geese: Night Ride over Autumn Trees

This is another mandala using a tree as a base, but this one also incorporates flying geese, one of my favorite sights in all of nature. Both tree and geese were in (or over) Chicago's Botanic Garden. And like another mandala herein, it is embedded in a dark ground, suggestive of the way all of nature is interconnected.

It's been awhile since I created another set of mandalas...and I got a bit carried away with myself. There are several new posts, most hold a mandala series, a few feature just one or a few. I hope you enjoy them.

Like my first set of mandalas (below) this series started as a tree and is representative of the seven chakras (plus one).

Mandalas from tree composite.

A new set of Mandalas - each one representing a chakra.  These were done from the same base photo (a tree) but processed differently.

The mandalas here represent the seven chakras.  Each began with a photograph and was created digitally.  I began with a regular color images of one tree, the composited and mirrored them so that the patterns would form.
