So There
Regardless of what the landscapers envisioned, these palm trees are making quite a spectacular display in the early morning light of the desert. Taken this morning in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. This is another image I share today in honor of Earth Day 2018.

If You Take Enough Photos, You May get a Few You Like
From a neighbor's home just an hour ago. She is unsure of the name but says they are very old and volunteer each year. She thought the name is "Iris" lily. Any guesses? I hope to pick a few and work them out. from iPhone 8 Plus, Phoenix

You Know You are Not Where the Snow is When...
Your neighborhood forum has a post like this to share:

"Join your neighbors for a FREE Ice Cream Social this Saturday, April 21st at the Columbine Cul-de-sac from 1pm to 3pm! Ice Cream being donated by our neighbor, Charlotte Steele, who owns the Dairy Queen on Camelback. Bring a chair and/or kiddie pool to relax and visit with some terrific folks! See you there!"

After hearing from so many people about the "unseasonable weather" and snow surprises this late in the North American "Spring", I felt a little guilty when I read this announcement. I was just thrilled that in the last couple days it was not going up daily to the upper 90's or 100 degrees. In fact, I actually caught myself before complaining that it was actually getting cold with the strong wind this afternoon in Phoenix.

I do have a righteous complaint about the pollen and allergy season here now. It's pretty intense. I know most people do not realize that Arizona can be quite the challenge for those with respiratory allergies, but this is a tough season for many right now.

Aloe Vera Yellow Flowers
Close view of a tiny orange part of a tall aloe vera plant used in landscaping around the St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. iPhone 8 Plus.

Another in my continuing series of photos taken in and around the old St. Joseph's/Dignity Health medical complex in the center of Phoenix over the last 14 years. Usually, I have the iPhone with me and have to be a bit sneaky lest I am stopped by Security. Even taking photos of the landscaping plants can be suspicious, apparently. Here and there I can sneak my dSLR or a P&S camera there on my trips.

For those interested, Drew continues to be in Neuro Acute Care on a search for whatever it is that is going on now that is not quite right. He's doing well but very tired of being in bed. Thankfully he is not having pain, so that is awesome. Just takes a long time to figure things out in a tricky guy.

Sunrise Central, Phoenix
Very early this morning from Drew’s room at Barrows. This is looking straight east from the center of downtown. Camelback Mountain is seen to the far left.

Uber self-driving car kills pedestrian

This is in Tempe, 20 miles from my home. Arizona was one of the first states to remove restrictions on any company with self-driving cars. This is in hopes to attract business. Doubt there will be any meaningful changes to Arizona policy with our Republican governor who is way way conservative.

On Aging
The facade and balcony of an old mining town business have not been aging gracefully. You can see more than a few generations of "repairs" and "improvements" here. Chase Creek (Clifton) Arizona, shot several years ago in blazing sunlight.

Added today for the quest of +Johnny Wills whose request today was submissions of one photo on the theme of:
"Sepia Photographs!" (Black And White if you don't have any)

Pink Path
Seen in a stairwell of the parking ramp near the Tucson Convention Center on Church Street. Must have been vivid and "fresh" at the time in the past when it was constructed. There is a walkway over the street from the second floor but it's in the process of being demolished. This is across the street from the place where I shot the demolition of colorful old buildings, shared in a post yesterday. A look at the Google Maps photos associated with this parking ramp structure shows how vivid the colors once were.
