APB (FOX)
Looks like a cross between Person of Interest (same producer) and Pure Genuis :
"a Chicago tech billionaire who, fed up with his city's sky-high crime rate, puts up his own money to privatize the police department's 13th Precinct and implement cutting-edge technology to fight crime."

I'd skip it, but I just noticed Natalie Martinez is in it and I've never seen her look bad in a show, with the exception of Under the Dome, and that was definitely not here fault!

Outsiders (WGN America)
Returns for 2nd season January 24th. If you're jonesing for SoA (if you don't know what that is, nevermind), this might help. My man Ryan Hurst is there with the same greasy hair. Some cartoonish story lines, but also food for thought. Dialog, simple enough for third grade, but violence not.

This is Us (NBC)
We're into the second half of the season. Yes, it's is a lot of soap opera, but there's a lot more true humanity in the little stories than you'll find in any actual soap opera. The flashback format is fine to slowly give context and back story. The casting stands out, not everyone is beautiful, they often look like people you know. One female critic dismissed it as emotional manipulation, but hey +Kaitlin Thomas, everything can't be a comic book.

Good Behavior (TNT)
Episode 10, cliffhanger, because they got renewed. This show is much better than it first appears. Main characters, a female ex-con, a hit man, the woman's mother who is horrible in the early days, then grows into someone not so bad. In fact, the evolution of the characters in this show is very original. Some go towards the bad, others get better. There's plenty of drama, much of it very believable drama you may be able to relate to, or at least empathize with. The acting is spot on, even her son is a totally believable young man. The horrible father of the kid is a horrible guy, but he supposedly has changed, too.

The Man Who Knew Infinity
The acting in this amazing true story is phenomenal. The story isn't to everyone's taste, but it is inspiring. Jeremy Irons and Dev Patel are brilliant in it. It starts slowly, but you get caught up in it, unless you must have car chases and explosions.
Directed by Matt Brown. With Dev Patel, Jeremy Irons, Malcolm Sinclair, Raghuvir Joshi. The story of the life and academic career of the pioneer Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan, and his friendship with his mentor, Professor G.H. Hardy.

Detroiters (Comedy Central)
No laugh tracks! Might be funny. Good actors and guest stars, so who knows?
"a pair of Detroit ad men who create commercials for local stores."
Best friends and fledgling ad men Sam and Tim may not have the money, connections or talent that the big corporations do, but they have more than enough ambition to build a local advertising empire. Whatever they do, they do it together. And no matter...

Superior Donuts (CBS) (starts Feb 2nd)
Great cast in this <yech!> laugh track comedy. I watched a few seconds of the preview trailer, joke <laugh>, joke, <laugh>, joke <laugh>. Dear CBS, it's 2017, Modern Family has been killing for years with no laugh track, because the jokes are funny!
Sorry, you can only watch this in the USA or with a proxy.

The Path, Season 2 (Hulu)
Coming back January 25th. I have mixed emotions on this one. It has some good stuff in it. Did anyone get through Season One?

I'm still watching this, are you? Like Pure Genius, it's not a knock out success, it doesn't set any new records for great acting or scripts, but the case/procedural part is an original twist. The main lead is a little smarmy, but the ensemble cast works and there's a taste of humor. It would be intolerable if it took itself too seriously. Watching?
