You hurt your knee! Momma gonna bring you something to eat.
Lima Beans, Sweet Potatoes, Cajun Seasoned Pork Chop

Still on caretaking duties with my mother n law. However, the caretaker needs a little help. Developed some knee issues out of nowhere having difficulty walking on it. When my mother found out about it she said don't fear mommy's here. (Trying to be cool)

It is good to have help when you need it especially when it is mommy's cooking.
That meal was awesome!! Hope everyone has been dealing with life happens with a loving heart and strong faith. You never know what a day will bring so remember to always treat people with love because you never know when you will need help from others and most of all stay in prayer because we always need God's help.

Sunday Dinner: Momma can I take a picture first before you try it? Please....
Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes with Homemade Brown Sugar Cinnamon Peanut Butter Syrup

You ever had one of those days where you just do not feel like moving let alone cook? That's me today. If I was not taking care of my mother n law I would have forgo eating, opted to read a good romance book and turn in early for tonight. But in order to serve others you must get out of yourself.

So, I decided against take out and make pancakes instead.
This little 82 year old lady was standing with a knife and fork saying can I try it now? When she tried it she beamed and with a big smile said,๐Ÿ˜ "This is better than restaurant food. Thank you for cooking for me daughter." Her gratefulness brings me joy...

๐Ÿ’– Celebrating life moments. It is the little things that make the heart glad. That's what soul love does......*๐Ÿ’–

What About Tomorrow?

Common life events such as pondering the future, relocating, moving, job search, beginning a new school or job, illness or injury, wedding planning, having a baby, dealing with disobedient children, marriage infidelity, fear of death and certain medications are a few things that can evoke anxieties.

The overwhelming feelings associated with anxiety can certainly lead to uncontrollable worry about things beyond one's control. It is easy to fall into the slump of living life for tomorrow since life most of the time, don't adhere to your goals and aspirations.

We have all said the following quotes at some point and time in our lives: "Tomorrow things will get better", "We can start over tomorrow", or "I will do this or that tomorrow". We place a lot of faith in tomorrow but in reality, "Tomorrow is not guarantee to anyone, no expectations no disappointment" (Moyo Adekoya). What a beautiful quote!

Jesus speaking about tomorrow said, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:34)

What I learn from Jesus teaching is this, "You can never transfer your troubles, concerns, plans, goals, on tomorrow as tomorrow can only be filled when it becomes your today." (Minister Gail Adams) Deep revelation uh..... Yeah....

I encourage you to follow Christ teaching on the subject of tomorrow. Live for today and "Don't be so preoccupied with focusing on tomorrows's possibilities or problems that you miss out on what's happening in your life today."

Deal with your life happens hard ships, trials and tribulations the best way you can and then trust God to handle things beyond your reach and control. That is called "Walking by Faith and not by Sight." Uh Huh........

It is my hope that these encouraging words brings gladness to your hearts!

"Whatsoever ye do, work heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men." (Colossians 3:23)

In this season of my life I am living with my mother n law who requires assistant living care. Believe me this is no easy feat. It requires great sacrifice, patience, and a selflessness that only comes from having a relationship with God. Let me tell you that I learned very early in the game about caregiver burnout.

I understand that God requires us to care for others but does he take into consideration the physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that comes with it? I have asked him many times is this something he called me to do. The answer I hear in my spirit is, "Honor thy mother and thy father"...... So his answer to my question is yes.

However, after leaving my family in another state to be a caregiver I began to question if I was being selfish for wanting out of this situation. At every opportunity I was murmuring and complaining about the stress involved in caretaking to my husband and anyone else who would listen. What came to mind is my many prayers telling the Lord I purpose to do his word and whatever he requires of me I will do it. Send me Lord I will go. Hmmmm.... now he has sent me I went, but do not wanna stay.

"The Bible is a book of words but it only becomes a living word after one does what it says." (Minister Gail Adams)

Colossians 3:23 says, "Whatsoever ye do, work heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men." Am I doing this work as unto the Lord?

Well, needless to say it was reflection time and not on the task before me but on the heart on the inside of me.

I begin by asking God to forgive me for all the faultfinding, murmuring, and complaining I've been doing. God during my repentance reminded me that my husband and I as we age will also require assistance one day and we will be looking to our kids for help when that day comes.

As the Holy Spirit led me to take a fresh look at this situation I realized that it is not the task at hand that has me all knotted up inside. The problem was I was reading the word of God but not properly applying it according to the circumstances. The Holy Spirit brought to my attention something Paul told the Church during his time that helped me examine myself to determine if my behavior and thoughts lined up with Jesus teachings.

Paul told the Church in, 1 Timothy 3:5, "For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how can he care for the church of God?" This verse is so versatile and can be applied for so many situations in life.

In regards to my life I chose to apply it by asking myself questions and then answering those questions: Who is my mother n law to me? My mother n law is a member of my house as well as a member of the Church. What attitude does God require us to have when helping others? Basically, Jesus told us to, "Treat others the way you want to be treated." What treatment does God require me to show her while helping her? To show her love while taking care of her.

What do I need to do to accomplish this? In order to take care of her I need to take of me also. So today, I got me, myself and I on my mind.

God helped me to understand that sometimes you have to step away from thoughts about others to focus on your own mental, physical, and spiritual health. It's not being selfish it's being human.

I realized that neglecting to focus on my mental, physical and spiritual health I have burned myself out to the point that I experience fatigue, stress, anxiety, and depression. Likewise, I have been experiencing feelings of guilt when I think about spending time on me rather than on meeting her needs. No wonder I was running low on love.

"Sometimes you run low on love. Yet, God remind us that "Love always begins with you. You cannot love others or show love to others unless you are full of love yourself."

It is important to take time for you when caring for others. God showed me that we need to daily love on ourselves and do things to increase our happiness then the love we have for ourselves will be transferred to others. But this can only happen when we have a loving relationship with our Creator. Then we will be able to:

"Let all that you do be done with love." (1 Corinthians 16:14)

Turning a shelf-stable protein into a delicious stir fry
Chocolate Sundae's Ginger, Garlic Spicy Salmon Fried Rice

Although I am into the fresh and organic movement thingy, I do not turn my nose up at shelf-stable proteins in the can. I have friends who will try to run me through the mill for eating can salmon something I love because they consider it unhealthy. Heck, I was raised on can salmon and I never had health issues. As long as you are happy eating what you like and it does not affect your health, ignore the naysayers.

I have learned to respect others choices even if I do not agree with it. That also goes for love. If someone does not agree with the one you are with that is their problem not yours. I remember back in the day there were some naysayers who did not agree with my relationship with my beautiful husband. I think 28 years of soul love marriage, hanging through thick and thin speaks for itself.

Never let any one choose for you that is a matter of the heart that is for you to decide. As long as you are happy with your soul love and they are giving you the best that they got what others think does not matter. Love hard that the one you are with feel it deep in their soul..........

Let all that you do be done with love. (1 Corinthians 16:14)

(Examining the Teachings of Others)

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul and Silas said was true. (Acts 17:11)

After hearing Paul and Silas messages the Bereans exhibited the appropriate attitude that all hearers of the word would do well to practice. While they received the word eagerly they still investigated, examined, and judged the teachings received ensuring what they heard was not contrary to scripture about Jesus.

Unlike the other Jews who believed not and raised an uproar after Paul and Silas for three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures (Acts 17: 1-10), the Bereans did not became argumentative, angry, or combative in their pursuit to discern and confirm truth from error. With a genuine need to be taught aright they searched and studied the scriptures daily to determine if the interpretations put before them were true.

The Berean Jews standard of fact checking teachings with scripture is a routine that all believers would do well to practice. Their approach to testing the spirit with scripture demonstrates that we have a responsibility to study messages put forth by leaders and officers of the church and determine if the one bringing forth the word is not speaking in error or mixing truth and error that would cause malignant or very dangerous or harmful influence or effect to precious souls relying on them to preach the Gospel truth.

There is no denying that many Christians whether seasoned or new to the faith can be very gullible to the degree of accommodating virtually anything that is taught them without so much of attempting to confirm if it is true or not. We should follow the way of the Bereans to investigate and โ€œStudy to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

Sadly, we have many in Christendom, laymen, laywomen, and spiritual leaders alike who take the position it is improper to challenge or question their teachings. However, we are cautioned to: "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." (I Thessalonians 5:21). Again, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." (I John 4:1).

Any person who is honest should not oppose his or her teachings being checked by the scriptures to determine whether those things they preach are not contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If one is guided by the Holy Spirit preaching truth they should welcome and not object to their teachings being "tried" by the word of God.

Nonetheless, the reality of the matter is many become quite combative when their teachings are questioned or challenged by someone using scripture or scriptures. Quite combative pulling out the boxing gloves. Oooh child things are going to get messyโ€ฆ..

โ€Ooh Beauteโ€™!! We do not have believers who become combative, when what they preach or post in the communities is challenged or questioned, you say.โ€* Well, CAREFULLY read the quote posted by a +CJ J Christian in Google + a few weeks ago and judge for yourself.

โ€œI sure run into this daily on Google+ a lot of dead faith new testament only Christians. They are deceived and truly working every evil work professing themselves to be wise they have become extremely foolish. You'll be able to spot them immediately. They are disobedient and have zero understanding and application of the scriptures. Usually they teach contradiction and try to pass that off as wisdom. Case and point: they are allowed to eat anything they want. By simply praying over it makes it acceptable for them to eat but God sanctified all foods in Leviticus teaching us what is clean and holy to be eaten. Dead faith indeed. Everything God says to do they want no part of it. First day of the week Sunday worship, defiling themselves with unclean foods, they have eradicated the laws and commandments of God. Truly dead faith indeed. What's even worse. These deceived people will tell you who walk in complete obedience to the whole of God's word that you lack understanding. Talk about the turning of things upside down. Truly dead faith. Peace Beloved Friends!โ€

WOOZERS!! When reading this quote all I hear is, โ€œLetโ€™s Get Ready To Rumble!โ€ This statement is a good example of corrupt communication as it certainly does not demonstrate godly behavior, lacks light failing to bring glory to God, offers no opportunity to reason together, and does not brings grace to the hearers. โ€œLet no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear,โ€ (Ephesians 4:29). If the world observe Christians having problems reasoning and discussing the bible together, neglecting the understanding that we know in part and prophesize in part our witness has become ineffective. OUR WITNESS HAS BECOME INEFFECTIVE!

WHAT IS THE PROPER RESPONSE WHEN OUR MESSAGES ARE CHALLENGED OR QUESTIONED AGAINST SCRIPTURE?

God requires that we be mindful of our attitude when dealing with each other under any circumstances. Luke 6:31 records the words of Christ where he said, โ€œDo to others as you would have them do to you.โ€ Applying this truth and being obedient to his word it should be the basic understanding that as believers we must not be hateful, argumentative, or angry, when confronting those teaching contrary to scripture or to those testing our messages against scripture.

After all, our Lord and Savior Jesus warned us to beware of false prophets [teachers] (Matthew 7:15-23; 24:11-28). Interestingly, when we think of false teachers we immediately think of cults or other faiths dissimilar to Christianity. Yet, Christendom is inundated with false teachers distorting and taking the Bible out of context to support unchristian like behaviors.

Many believers quote what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:9, โ€œFor we know in part and we prophesy in part,โ€ but fail to understand and apply the truth of his statement making their opinions contrary to what is written the dominate belief and jump down your throat when you question what they write or say. However, each believer has been called to:

(1) โ€œBeware of false prophets, who come to you in sheepโ€™s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolvesโ€ (Matthew 7:15)

AND

(2) To identify false teachers. Jesus said โ€œthey are recognized by their fruitโ€ (Matthew 12:33) and most importantly, โ€œSpeak the things that are consistent with sound doctrine.โ€ (Titus 2:1)

We should all ask ourselves the following questions when we personally teach or preach or listen to those teaching the word or read a gospel message:

(1). Does this preacher or teacher writings or sermon exhibit spiritual qualities that glorify the Lord? In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:15-16).

(2). Does this preacher or teacher teach the gospel of Jesus Christ or another Gospel in place of what Jesus told us to preach to the world? "Go into the entire world and preach the gospel to all creationโ€ (Mark 16:15).

Look, the gospel entails more than the good news concerning Jesusโ€™ death, burial, and resurrection. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a set of guiding principle or doctrines given to him by the Father who told him to share it with all mankind. โ€œThere is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not receive My words: The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. I have not spoken on My own, but the Father who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and how to say it,โ€ (John 12:48-49).

The Apostle John in (2 John 2: 9-11) understanding Jesus directive to teach his doctrine, told believers, โ€œWhosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed; for he that biddeth him Godspeed is a partaker of his evil deeds.โ€

Many Christians calling themselves preachers, teachers, and prophets, dismiss messages that take scripture out of context passing them up without correction on a daily basis resulting in them floating around, like a bad stink. Likewise, Christians admiring a teacher, pastor or preacher to the point, that when they fall into biblical error may overlook the error because of their admiration for that person(s). This is very dangerous, and can lead to Christians neglecting their duty to address incorrect doctrine taken contrary to the Gospel of Jesus and thus they please men not God becoming the servants of men and not the servants of Christ (Gal. 1:10).

Since we are instructed to, โ€œPreach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instructionโ€; I put forth that it biblical neglect to overlook the scriptural error stated in the aforementioned quote by our Christian brethren, it is contrary to the teachings of Christ and should be corrected as to protect those new to the faith.

Turning a blind eye to those preaching and teaching biblical error because of admiration for the person(s), or because you will appear to be confrontational, or due to fear of intimidation and backlash from them should make you give pause and to reconsider your calling. The Apostle James said, โ€œNot many of you should be teachers my brothers, knowing that we will receive greater judgmentโ€ (James 3:1) . Therefore we should not perform our duty of correction negligently knowing we are held to a greater judgment.

If the Bereans were highly praised for analyzing what was preached to them, then we ought to do the same for all preachers, teachers, and prophets no exception.

We should do as the Bereans and set about to read and digest scripture for truth and Never blatantly accept messages contrary to the doctrine of Christ as the Apostle John cautioned in (2 John 2: 9-11).

To God Be The Glory!

Sundae's Dinner is done!
Red Beans and Smoke Sausage

My mother goes to the 9:00 o'clock church service and get out by 11 or 11:30. My mother n law goes to the 11:00 o'clock church service and get out by 1:00 or 1:30.

Sooo, my momma called me last night and asked what was I cooking. I told her Red Beans and Smoke Sausage, with Rice and Salad. She asked, "What else?" I repeated the menu. She asked three more times and then said, I do not want no beans. ( Instead of asking if I will fry her a pork chop because she loves a pork chop with her beans she gets smart ๐Ÿ˜• uggg.) Well, needless to say, I told her then I want be seeing you for Sundae Dinner.

She said, ๐Ÿ˜ก"Little ol chocolate girl do not mess with me and make me get out of myself. ๐Ÿ˜‡ You know I go to church tomorrow and cannot be cussing you for being disrespectful to me."
I apologized to her and then she said, "I think I will come eat your beans tomorrow because I love the way you make them and I need you to call my son n law on face time so he can see me enjoy your cooking and make him jealous."๐Ÿ˜… I laughed and told her I see her tomorrow. "Don't let me come there and find those beans still cooking because I be hungry after church and have to take my medicine." Bye old lady.... Lord knows I better have that pork chop or I will not hear the end of it.๐Ÿ™‚

Sooo, this morning, my mother n law got up at 6:00 this morning and said, ๐Ÿ˜‹ "Oh dinner is done and smelling good!" So ummm are you making oatmeal cookies, darling? You keep saying you are going to make those oatmeal cookies again and you haven't yet. Your mother is coming over to eat with me and we need desert. I expect the cookies to be baked okay. Keep your word and God will bless you. ๐Ÿ˜‡

Goodness!! Dealing with two mothers on Sunday is more than a notion. They are both bossy, sassy, and funny but I am glad that they are both still in the land of the living. Honor your mother and father enjoy them even when they are being difficult. Time to make her breakfast and then the cookies.
