Chris Pollard: I just wish LG would take software updates seriously. As a tech enthusiast, it's one of the biggest strikes against it. I've been spoiled the last two years by OnePlus. They weren't always perfect, and they'd have the odd rollout glitch, but man, they were so consistent with pushing out updates. I loved that. I'm hoping the G7 will at LEAST get Android Pie. I won't hold my breath for Q though, which is a sad forethought.

The G7 has impressed me more than I was expecting it to so far though. I've been really enjoying the camera and FM radio this weekend. The biggest overall disappointment is probably that they didn't go with a larger battery. It's okay, especially for my generally pretty light use, but you really see it drop quickly if you're shooting a lot of photos or video. I lost about 20% in under and hour yesterday morning.

I do hope they add video stabilization to their 1080p60fps mode, and the 4k too. It's hardware stabilized!! Why the heck would they not include it in all modes?? I could see it if it was only EIS.

No notch on the smaller Pixel 3, as we expected. It'll be hard to pick the Pixel 3 XL over this one for most people.

Adam Slobodian: The notch is ugly and a lazy in between phase until more companies can figure out how to do an all display front. I give it another year or so before they go away. They don't add anything extra to the phone, not necessary in my opinion. If you are going to hide the notch anyway then what's the point of having it? I'd rather have a bit of a bezel on the top and the bottom, adds to stability and also helps when watching in landscape mode so you have somewhere to rest your thumbs when watching a video.

Chris Pollard: I don't get the obsession of the "all display" phone. It's bad design. From a usability perspective, to many false touches on the sides. From a durability protective, there's no buffer between the edge and the screen in a fall. From a protection perspective, it's bloody hard to get glass screen protectors and cases that work with them. Give me a bezel to hold, a flat screen to protect, and a durable build. All the notch does, really, is bump the screen size spec artificially on paper. Maybe instead of diagonals, they should measure based on square millimeters of screen space. Then the notch isn't any advantage.

The reason I didn't like the Samsung plus phones with edge. Contact errors constantly.

Give me a bezel any time over a notch !!
