Omani Shuwa : A must eat in Oman

When in Oman, indulge in traditional Omani Shuwa - An Omani Dish where a lamb is marinated and wrapped in banana leaves and they cook the lamp in an underground oven in the flame of charcoal for more than 12 hours.

Jebel Shams : The Grand Canyons of Oman

Standing on the edge of Jebel Shams surrounded by Shepherds walking down tracing my way through a comparatively easy trek down, I wondered how many places will give you that feel of completely rustic way under.Staying in a campsite with the bare mountains or in the middle of sand dunes,I discovered this was the place I was looking for. Culturally Rich, yet Unspoilt.

Wahiba Sands and Bedoins

Wahiba sands are about 1500 sq km and is different geology than any other sand dune in the world. Rest all of the sand dunes are made of limestone but this one is made of corals and sea shells because this whole area was an ocean. You can never get dirty in wahiba sands. Bedouins are nomadic tribes of #Oman  and still reside in interiors of Oman moving from one place to another

The India and Oman Connection

In Old days,Southern Oman(now called as Dhofar) was the center of Frankincense trade. This highly priced commodity produced from aromatic sap of the Frankincense tree was traded for Spices from India and was carried by caravans all across Arabia. These traders would rely on to the fixed schedules of monsoon that would easily transport the Dhows with the wind. The oldest trade lines hence was with Kutch in Gujarat, you would still find traces of Swahili Carvings and Khimjis in Muscat and rest of Oman.

This Building in Muscat for example has the Swahili Carvings from Gujarat.
