AUTUMN COLORS AT THE POND AT CASTLE RAESFELD

At the very back you can still see the tower of the castle.

In the west of the castle raesfeld, Alexander II of Velen, from 1653 onwards, put on an animal garden. To this end, an approximately 100-hectare site was surrounded by an approximately five-kilometer-long wall with raised palisades. Within the park, wild game such as wild boar, roe deer and deer were held for hunting.
The landscape design in the style of the Renaissance was characterized by the natural alternation of typical regional landscape elements such as beech forests, coniferous mixed forests and isolated eruptions, pastures, small fields and heathens. Breezes and pond systems developed like an organic band from the castle in the east to the southwest.
With the vacancy of the castle, the park also fell into oblivion and disappeared.
The non-profit charitable organization "Tiergarten Schloss Raesfeld" was founded in 2003 and concluded with the owner Dietrich von Landsberg-Velen a contract of use over 25 years for the site.
Thus, a fruit meadow with 40 apple, pear, plum and cherry trees, a heath area as well as moist meadows were laid out. Some areas were cleared, woody groups were cut and free spaces were created. They serve as an area for the re-used deer, red and fallow deer, which can move freely in the 130-hectare site surrounded by a modern wildlife protection fence.
The Tiergarten is still open to the public and serves as a recreation area.

SHEEPHERD IN THE WESTRUPER HEATHLAND

Naturally keep the undergrowth short, thereby keeping the heath intact, the sheep brought to the heathland each year. They are Natural Lawnmowers.

Located just outside the Haltern Water Reservoir, the 90-hectare "Westruper Heide" is a impressive heathland. The Westruper Heathland has been made in 1937 under natural protection and is today a popular destination. The habitat mosaic of heathland provides numerous, now endangered plant and animal species a home.
in the area there are the following, particularly sensitive landscape characteristics:
-Sand heaths inland dunes,
-Sand dry grassland on inland dunes,
-rare and endangered juniper stands on dwarf shrub heaths
-nutrient-poor wetland ecosystems (Heideweiher).

AUTUMN TREE IN FRONT OF CASTLE LUEDINGHAUSEN (2016)
The castle Lüdinghausen is a water castle in Luedinghausen in the district Coesfeld.
The castle was built in the 12th century as the seat of the lords of Lüdinghausen and converted into a typical Renaissance castle under Gottfried von Raesfeld in the 16th century.
The 16th century also contains some of the interesting building details. A list of food prices from the years 1573/74, various coats of arms and an inscription on the town fires from 1573/74 can be found in the façade in 1569. The upper rooms of the castle combine building tradition with modern elements and are partly furnished as meeting rooms. The castle is today owned by the city of Lüdinghausen.

AUTUMN AT THE GASOMETER OBERHAUSEN (HDR)

The Gasometer Oberhausen is a former gas holder in Oberhausen, Germany, which has been converted into an exhibition space. It has hosted several large scale exhibitions, including two by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The Gasometer is an industrial landmark, and an anchor point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage and the Industrial Heritage Trail. It was built in the 1920s, and reconstructed after World War II.
The Gasometer is nearly 118 m high, 68 m in diameter, and its maximum capacity of 347,000 cubic metres makes it the largest gasometer in Europe.

VERY OLD (PLANTED 1835) MAGNOLIA TREE ( Magnolia Soulangiana) IN FRONT OF HOUSE DELLWIG (Summer 2016)

Situated in Lütgendortmund (Germany, NRW, Dortmund) House Dellwig was since the 13th century for almost 500 years owned by the same family. After the Thirty Years' War , the surge is then almost completely destroyed and is constructed 1658-1690 again. Above the entrance portal in the tower today testifies to the crest of the family of Dellwig of the former owners. The façade and the steep tower, and two half-timbered buildings, are original. In 1988 a local museum was founded in Haus Dellwig. The exhibits include a complete kitchen, a sitting room and various workshops (bakery, hairdressers, butchers, laundry, saddler, shoemaker's workshop and carpenters).

SUNSET AT THE SUNDIAL

The great task, The Emscher Landscape Park.
The transformation of the Ruhr industrial region to a green city landscape with panoramic views, industrial heritage and great art in unusual places.
With 152 meters high, poured out 180 million tonnes of tailings rock, the Halde Hoheward been converted into an unusual and unique leisure and cultural landscape.
Here you see the Sundial with obelisk on the Hoheward tip on the city boundary of Herten/Recklinghausen.
The approximately 3,000 m² horizontal sun clock( special kind of a sundial) lies on the southern plateau at an altitude of about 140 m above sea level. NN. The pointer is an eccentrically standing, 8.50 m high stainless steel obelisk, which throws its shadow on the circular surface with a diameter of 62 m. The surface, which is the model of the solar emperor of the Roman emperor Augustus, consists of bright paving stones. It is traversed by 20 cm wide strips of black pavement. This very precise design enables the visitor to read the correct time (true local time) and the date in suitable weather. For this purpose, numerous explanations have been made in the area. A special feature is that the surface is absolutely flat. In order to avoid puddling, porous plaster was used, through which the water enters the substrate.

MÜNSTERLAND
Grassy cows in front of Castle Raesfeld

Münsterland is a region in northwest Westphalia in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Center of the Münsterland is the name Westphalian city and former provincial capital Münster.
The landscape is characterized by intensive agricultural use, which is relatively small. Fields, meadows, pastures, small groves and hedges give a varied picture, so it is called the Münsterländer Parklandschaft (Parkland).
The Münsterland is architecturally characterized by a large number of churches, monasteries and castles, some of which are still very well preserved.
In the Münsterland there are many castles and castles, the water castles being typical of the comparatively flat landscape. All the major castles, castles and former noble estates can be explored by bicycle on the so-called 100-castles route.

INDIAN SUMMER (Altweibersommer) IN THE WESTRUPER HEATH

Early in the morning. Still the fog has not completely disappeared, the countless spider webs are still damp.

In folk beliefs, the spiderwebs of the Linyphiidae were also used for threads of elves, dwarfs, norns, or virgin Mary (Marienfäden, Mariengarn, Marienseide, Marienhaar or Our Lady of God, ) held. In folk beliefs, it was thought that the promise of an early wedding was when flying spinning threads caught in the hair of a young girl
