Nordketten Sunset, Tyrol, Austria
Yesterday's sunset on "Hafelekar" near Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria. Hafelekar is part of the Karwendel Mountain Ridge and is situated 2300 meters above sealevel. This viewpoint is accessible (by cablecar) within 30 minutes from Innsbruck, which is really cool. Yesterday I met another photographer here and enjoyed some great colors.

Cliffs of Manarola, Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy
Last weekend I visited fascinating Cinque Terre in the norstwest of Italy. Manarola is one the five villages there. For me the fascination of Cinque Terre comes from the cheerful and fragile looking architecture in combination with the roughness of the sea. The villages symbolise outposts of mankind that brave the wild.

Moeraki Sunset, South Island, New Zealand
The last day I made another turn through my archived New Zealand images. Again I found a few pictures worth working on. This here is a well known place and wildly popular among photographers: Moeraki Boulders.

Here is my interpretation of this strange boulders. Some of them are nearly perfect round, others are cracked up and seem to be made out of gold...

Portrait of a mountain: Hohe Munde, Tyrol, Austria
Today I started in the dark to reach the peak of Seefelder Spitze. After nearly 2 hours of ski touring I could take this picture of Hohe Munde, a 2.662 metre (8,734 ft) high peak near Seefeld in Tyrol. I was very happy with the light this morning.

Monkey Island, Orepuki, New Zealand
Colorful Sunset on the beach near Orepuki. The hill on the right side in the background is called "Monkey Island" or "Te Puka o Takitimu" and was used by local Maori as lookout for wahles.

Foggy morning on Passo Gardena, Dolomites, Italy
When I reached the top of Passo Gardena (Grödnerjoch) a lot of fog rises. On this morning I only saw the sun for a few moments. This is one where it breaks through the clouds and painted some nice colors to this otherwise gloomy atmosphere. By the way the mountains in the background belong to the Sella group, a plateau-shaped massif in the Dolomites.

Church of the Alpini, Grödnerjoch, South Tyrol, Italy
Last Weekend I spent two days with my family in Val Gardena in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. To me (and many others) the Dolomites are the most beautiful mountains in the world. Therefore I try to spent a few day in South Tyrol every year. Especially fall is the most rewarding season when it comes to photography. While in summer the best light is in the morning and evening in fall there is often good light all the day. This picture from the weekend was taken at 11 pm and shows the church of the Alpini with Langkofel (Sassolungo) in the background.

Rainbow Falls, Kerikeri, New Zealand
I just went through my archive searching for pictures for my new homepage, when I found this one. It shows Rainbow Falls near Kerikeri in New Zealand. I remember that refreshing drizzle in the face, the lush green and the paradise like scene...

Tyrolean Sunrise, Ötztal Alps, Tyrol, Austria
I spent last night on the wonderful Ramolhaus in the Ötztal Alps. The Glacier in the background is called "Gurgler Ferner" and the third biggest glacier in Tyrol. The lit peak left of the glacier is the 3480m (11417 feet) high "Hochwilde" which also marks the border to South Tyrol (Italy).

Zebra Slot Canyon, Utah, USA
This picture was hard-earned. After an hour walk through the hot desert, I had to wade 100m through waist-deep dirty water with nothing more than my underpants and my photo equipment. Gladly I was accompanied by a friendly frog. And in the end I had to climb to reach the most beautiful part of Zebra Slot Canyon. As I said, hard-earned but also great fun at the same time ;-)
