Tide

Taken this morning. The tide was incoming and gave the tripod legs a salty bath, not to mention my boots!

The image was taken at Sandsend near Whitby, North Yorkshire, UK.

The wooden structures are called groynes which form part of the old sea defences, also known as wave breaks here in the UK.

Salford Quays

Salford Quays is an area of Salford, Greater Manchester, England, near the end of the Manchester Ship Canal. Previously the site of Manchester Docks, it became one of the first and largest urban regeneration projects in the United Kingdom following the closure of the dockyards in 1982.

Weather wise, the word of the day was GREY. We did our best and called time late afternoon after a interesting day photographing and exploring the quays. One of the highlights of the day was lunch in China Town. Thanks for taking care of the bill Stephen!! The food was lovely.

I told you I wasn't going black and white Stephen ;)

Sea Mist

Here comes the mist. I'm happy with this shot. I took it for something to do while the other camera was clicking away doing time-lapse.

EDIT - This was a shot from the time-lapse ..

This is Flamborough, East Yorkshire, UK.

In Gods Hands

The dam wall is still leaking but planning work is well under way to find the best solution to fix it.

I shot this at a place around the lake where is it hard to tell the lake is well below it's normal level. If you look closely at the man made square brick structure sticking out of the water to right of shot, you can see where the level used to be.

This is my last post before a family holiday in Wales. I will be taking the laptop to keep up with all while we are away ;)

Heaven & Earth

I would give it all,
For a chance to be with you
When I’m in your arms, I feel love,
And I know you feel it too

‘Cause every breath you take will clear my way
I hope the love we share comes true someday

I’m losing my mind when I think of you
And you are always around,
In my thoughts it’s nothing new

‘Cause every breath you take will clear my way
I hope the love we share comes true someday

There is no place I’d rather be,
Than anywhere with you.

‘Cause every breath you take will clear my way
I hope the love we share comes true someday ..

A Leak in the Dam Wall

This is not good! My favourite photography haunt has a leak!

The largest 'top lake' drains into this one via a small waterfall under an arched road bridge. This 'middle lake' is then blocked by a Dam Wall, the history of which goes back many 100's of years.

The only way for the water to flow through to the bottom lake some 40 feet down is under 'Swiss Bridge' (Show in this image if you have good eyes) which takes the water down a man made but picturesque waterfall.

That was until a few weeks ago!

Over the winter and to the bottom left of the waterfall the dam wall has been breached and started leaking water!!

Luckily, Nostell Priory, Gardens and Lakes are owned by the National Trust, who are onto the problem. Lets hope they fix it soon. Many fish live in this lake and all kinds of wildlife.

Where I was standing to take this shot was very much underwater and has been for a very long time. You cannot see them in this image but there were hundreds of large fresh water mussel shells, which are mainly eaten by swans I believe.
