We loved the intimate vibe of Zadar, with it's history and archaeological remains woven into the fabric of modern life and not cordoned off just for tourists. We walked freely among the ruins of the ancient Forum. And stumbled upon proud Roman columns on our way to dinner in quiet alleys. Zadar was easily our favourite of all the places we visited in Dalmatia.

The waterfront was deserted. The electric anticipation of the day before (scroll down to the sunset silhouettes from a few weeks ago) replaced by forlorn silence.

But the watered down Zadar sunset, in the quiet of this dark, overcast day, was no less beautiful.

The dial of the old cathedral clock on the renaissance era defensive wall is frozen at 7.03 hrs: the exact time an 1880 earthquake damaged the Zagreb cathedral. The lovely sculptural elements are from the old spire.

I was more intrigued however, by the 21st century MJ look alike......
