Riding the waves on gentle breeze

Hello Monday! Last week I visited the Outer Banks of NC for the first time ever and had a great time. I was there with family so I didn't devote a lot of time to my own photography, but did get a nice sampling of nature and landscapes. Here's one a trio of pelicans gliding over the gentle morning waves that I thought would make a nice minimalism shot.

Waiting...

Another scene on a foggy winter country road that I found really appealing (which doesn't mean much :D ). You may have to zoom in or view it large...

On lonely wings

Yesterday I made my once-every-few-months errand trip to my old stomping ground on the north side of Chicago. As usual, it's packed with a list of activities, which started with my 16 miles long run. I couldn't pick a crazier weather day for it. The temperature was in the low teens, which by itself isn't bad, but with 20mph wind and snow going sideway off the lake, it was a rough run in subzero windchill. My eyebrows and glasses had ice on them. In my running log I started with one word: Brutal. It was supposed to be an easy run but after finishing it felt like I ran a race on ice. Completely beat. The plus side is that hardly anyone was out there. I think the 8 or so people I saw were also nuts runners. The other two were inside their car, keeping it warm. :P

So...enough of that. After the run I walked down to the edge of the lake with my camera bag, hoping to get a few shots. But other than some broken jagged ice sheets at the edge, not much else was visible. After a few snaps I got up just as this lone gull was passing by. I quickly tried to focus on it and fired off one shot and went back to the car. A while ago I uploaded the pics and came across the shot. This was all I needed....though you may have to look hard for it. :)

Approaching the Recession

Please don't ask me what I meant by the title. :P
It's just some trees, some snow, some bits of colour in the ground, and lots of fog fading.

In Time

For some reason I was thinking that #MinimalMonday is on a hiatus until I saw +Olivier Du Tré's post about last Monday. I've always loved this theme and it's been a while since I participated. So here's one for the new year. I don't know what kind of pier used to be here, but I do appreciate that they left it to time.

2015-03-24 - Man Walking Towards Tree

Like my creative title? Don't answer that! :D
You know how sometimes you go for a stretch without posting anything, and it just seems harder to find something you want to post the longer you go? So yeah, this is that.

EDIT to Add alternate titles contributed by the creative folks:
"Tree waiting patiently for man to approach" - +Rob Patterson
"Man walking backwards away from tree" - +Gary Munroe
"Tree coming towards man" - +Wray Post
"Pathological Landscape with Joint Approach" - Another one from +Marc Briggs's link

Many thanks to +Tree Tuesday and the  #TreeTuesday  curators +Christina Lawrie +Allan Cabrera +Kim Troutman +David R Robinson and +Ralph Mendoza for giving me a theme to post today.

2015-02-09 - SNAKE!!!

So this was what I had in mind when I saw the branch on the iced over marina off Lake Michigan last week. I know, I need psychiatric help. :D
