Introducing Twitter's Conversational Ads: Instant Unlock Cards
A way of "baiting" users to tweet your messages? http://gplus.ly/2aWO0fU

Now here's an interesting new ad product for Twitter-- Instant Unlock Cards essentially give advertisers the ability to "gate" content within tweets. This means the user viewing the tweet will need to click the call-to-action in order to gain access to the full content.

In their own words,

"When a call to action button is tapped, the Tweet composer opens with a pre-populated brand message accompanied by the creative and hashtag buttons. The consumer can then personalize the Tweet and share it with his or her followers."

Here's the announcement tweet showing a video of how they work: http://gplus.ly/2aWNL4B

In Twitter's example they show a video in a tweet that you can only view after clicking the CTA and sharing the tweet.

Interesting? Sneaky? Confusing? Sound off in the comments below.

News Feed FYI: Showing You More Personally Informative Stories
Yet another update to the Facebook Algorithm http://gplus.ly/2aKAmsW

Today Facebook announced that they would be rolling out yet another update to their news feed algorithm meant to help users see more "informative" stories.

While they say this shouldn't impact pages in a significant way, only time will tell. It's not without reason, though, that every time Facebook makes an algorithm change that many Facebook Page owners start hyperventilating.

One interesting quote from this article is about how they go about getting feedback, stating:

"global crowd-sourced surveys of tens of thousands of people per day, as well as people who answer more detailed questions about what they like seeing in their feeds."

Have you ever been a part of any of these crowd-sourced surveys? What are your thoughts about this change?

How Will Facebook’s Latest Algorithm Update Affect Marketers?
Quick answer: negatively. Longer answer... read on. http://bit.ly/299bT3U

In this article for +Social Media Today by Stephen Baldwin (not likely the Stephen Baldwin you might be thinking of) he outlines Facebook's recent announcement of more algorithm changes. The short of it is, updates from friends and family will take high priority.

And that means businesses and brands on Facebook are facing yet another potential drop in reach.

This means marketers must simply get better at being personal and delivering content that spreads. And that's not easy, but it's what we're faced with.

It is times like this where truly savvy marketers will sit back and smile. Because savvy marketers know that putting all their eggs into one basket is not a smart strategy and they will have investments in other, more conducive marketing channels in play.

So are you freaking out about the next big Facebook Algorithm change?
Facebook has decided – for better or worse – that posts from friends will be weighted more heavily in the News Feed than posts from third parties such as news publishers, brands, and others w

Twitter will soon open up Moments to all users
What could this mean? http://gplus.ly/2b2j90D

If you've not been exploring Twitter Moments, essentially they are hand-curated collections of tweets surrounding a specific topic or news story. Essentially these moments are an incredible way of creating a story out of a string of tweets.

And Twitter has only given select few access to create these moments-- but that's about to change according to this report from +Mashable.

Have you been using Moments? Would you use it if you had the ability to create them? Do you think this could be a good tool for businesses and brands?

Why We Should Focus on Attention Not Clicks http://bit.ly/291DX6s

Understanding your success metrics and which ones matter most for your overall #marketing goals is important. Don't simply rely on page views to tell you if you're succeeding or not.

Ash Read writes his thoughts on the +Buffer blog about how we can dive deeper with the content we create and not get misguided by "vanity" metrics that don't actually mean anything.

#contentmarketing #blogging
Millions of blog posts are published every day. A small percentage gain traction and attract readers. And among those readers, 55% will read the blog post for 15 seconds or less.
