the King is a reference to that big ape called Kong but on another level it's about the attempt to profit from the majesty of nature . I prefer a more passive experience and if you are ever in the vicinity of Joshua NP then you can make a detour and hike the many trails with surprises around every corner .

Marvel Man ... this reminds me of a comic book super hero ( maybe somebody knows which one ) ... I see the head rising at a 45 degree angle ... it has a prominent brow above a distinct nose and a very large chin ... keeping with the comic book theme I can imagine that this superhero is just one of many waiting to be transformed by some injustice that must be overcome .

Okay ... you may have to think outside the box to see what I see ... I'm not a desperate photographer but the more time I spend looking for these shapes I begin to see them everywhere ... there's a bump on the rock in the center of this pile and it looks like a nose and a line running across to form a brow ... the rock sitting at the base creates a chin and completes the ' face ' ... just saying .

the Man and the Moon ... is a play on the man in the moon but there really isn't , although there's been a man on the moon ... Joshua N.P is a wonderful place to capture these kind of images ... pick any trail and let your imagination loose .

the' Lookout ' ... there is a reclining figure along the top edge with the head being the first rock on the left ... whenever I hike these rocky places I'm always on the lookout for these representations ... I can visit an area like this at any time of day and the light will make these ' rock faces ' look different every time .

the ' Watcher ' ... when you are in the wilderness do you ever get the feeling that you are not alone ? The face in the middle of the frame is composed of 3 rocks which are easily seen if you squint a little and let your imagination set you free.

' Trapped in Stone '...it's been said that working a piece of stone is an evolving process...if you take enough time and 'see' then the chisel releases the shape .

' Rock Hound ' was another discovery along the Palms to Pines Byway in S.California ... stop at Vista Point along the way and take a short walk around noon and you might see it too .
