This will probably be my last sunset down at Yeppoon for quite a while.

As some of you may know, in a few short weeks I will be taking a step back from my current job to travel Australia with my family.

I have discovered since falling in love with photography, a deep yearning to travel and explore more of our beautiful country. Whilst I have appreciated the amazing scenery we have here in this region, the rest of Australia is quite stunning as well (who knew), and I can't wait to get out there and start photographing it.

My very understanding wife and children will be coming along for the ride and I'm sure this trip will be an amazing bonding experience for us all.

I will be regularly posting to all of my social channels and blog so please feel free to continue following my page to keep up to date with photography tips, reviews and destination write ups from our travels.

Sometimes I look at photographs and think...what a serene image. It must have been such an amazing experience to be there in that moment.

Most times it is. However in this instance, my serenity was interrupted by mosquitos the size of dragonflies! (A slight exaggeration but you get the picture). Not very fun, but worth the effort.

The funny side of this story is that just before I took this shot, I was stopped by a local farmer who mistook my camera and tripod for a rifle :)

Second session with my new #NisiFilters
I think I'm definitely getting the hang of using them now. This was taken using the V5 filter holder, polariser and 3-stop GND.

I went out this morning to try out my new Nisi Filters and V5 filter holder (www.nisifilters.com.au). I'll try and post a more comprehensive review when I've used them a few more times but my initial impressions are positive. Having only used circular filters before, this type of system is very new to me but I have been very happy with the performance from this first session.

This shot was taken using a 6-stop ND filter, stacked with a 3-stop GND.

I wasn't sure about the composition of this photo initially however it is definitely growing on me the more I look at it.

I thought it was quite a cool aspect to have this channel between the rocks lead out from underneath the camera and draw the viewers eye to the distant mountain and sunrise in the background.

We had some awesome overcast weather on the weekend as opposed to cloudless skies, so it was nice to be able to take advantage of it for some moody shots at sunset.

Sunset over the old underwater observatory on the Capricorn Coast in +Queensland, Australia. This shot was taken from the beach on Great Keppel Island 🌴 It would be great to see this old relic up and running again one day.

Sometimes I feel like I've shot in the same location so many times that it couldn't possibly get any different. I'm always on the lookout for new places to shoot locally but it can just be easier to go back to the same ol' spots.

After a while I find myself in a bit of a creative lull because it feels like there is nothing new to capture. Fortunately it only takes one really great sunrise or sunset to get you motivated and the addiction begins again :)

A Moment in Time

This image was taken earlier this year and is currently one of my favourites that I have shot in recent months. This image is also special to me for another reason. This is due to the fact that since I took this photo, the area that I live in was hit with a major cyclone. Since then, this particular area has never looked the same due to massive amounts of erosion.

I am so thankful that I got to shoot here prior to this event as I will never be able to capture this location again, the way I have in the past.
