That's not CGI; that's real. It's an electric fan, essentially, covered with LEDs that display an image or movie in time with the rotation. So cool.

Costs about USD $700 from http://www.3dholodisplay.com/LED-based-plug-play-42x42-cm-Hypervsn-3D-Hologram-Player-pd6135855.html

New 3D printed muscle is 3x stronger than regular muscles (in many but not all ways). Still in the university lab research stage, but hey, that's pretty darned impressive.

Apparently, if you surround an autonomous car with a white circle, it won't know where to go and will stop. It's essentially surrounded by an infinite lane marker.

In traditional magic, you bind creatures by surrounding them with a circle of salt.

So now we do this with autonomous vehicles.

OK, yeah, you could 3D print in plastic. Why not 3D print in clay?

They still need to be fired. So why 3D print a moldable material? Novice potters don't know how to form certain complex shapes that the printer can at least extrude to get them started.

USD $750 for the printer itself, or $350 for the extruder itself (to add on to an existing printer).
