A woman has been seriously #injured after a man stabbed her in a Monmouth County retirement community. It has been revealed that police had received calls and responded 50 times in the last five years to calls for assistance about that property.

Here are the key facts from the article published on NJ.com:

Nearly half of the incidents, the police records show, were medical-related or are "welfare checks" — when police respond to a home to check up on an occupant typically after they are contacted by a family member.

_At least five of the calls were for a disorderly person or trespassing.
Two of the trespassing calls had occurred the day before the stabbing was reported to police. One had come in the early morning hours before police arrived at the home at 3 p.m._

A Newark woman is accused of driving more than two miles with a woman clinging to the hood of her Honda Accord following an accident in Jersey City last month.

A court official said that following the accident – which occurred at Communipaw Avenue and Route 440 on Oct. 29 – Lesaine allegedly tried to leave the scene but the victim grabbed one of the Accord's windshield wipers.

Lesaine's bail was set at $30,000 with a 10 percent cash option when she made her first appearance on the charges this afternoon in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.

City Council agreed to pay a $369,000 #settlement at a meeting Tuesday night to a gay former police officer who accused the city of discrimination.

Steven Pascal, an openly gay former officer, claimed in a 2013 lawsuit that Capt. Rob Sheehan and the Police Department created a hostile, anti-gay work environment and unjustly fired him three years ago.

The article reported that a majorit of the settlement will be funded by the Atlantic County Municipal Joint Insurance Fund, the insurer of record for the city.

Some local #NewJersey news to discuss today as authorities noted a person of interest has been taken into custody Sunday night after a standoff.

According to WABC, Arrington was considered to be armed and dangerous and SWAT teams converged on his home. Arrington gave himself up without incident after about 30 minutes negotiating with police.

A possible motive for the attack has not been disclosed.

Arrington has not been charged in the stabbings, but is also wanted on charges of sexual assault and aggravated assault for an unrelated incident on Oct. 9, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray said at a news conference Saturday.
