Lot of the safety features that Google has for screening email is behind the scenes, but it's essential to keep us safe!!

How Gmail protects you from phishing attacks and Google prevents hackers from accessing your account

Our systems anonymously examine thousands of signals across all of Gmail—where a message originated, to whom it’s addressed, how often the sender has contacted the recipient in the past—to determine which messages are safe, and which ones aren’t. We then filter the vast majority of this nasty stuff out; the average Gmail inbox contains less than 0.1 percent spam.

And Google tries to make sure it's actually you signing in.

That's because we aren’t just making sure you’ve typed the right password. We also look for subtler signals to confirm the sign-in doesn’t look funky: Are you using the same device that you usually use? Are you in a familiar location, or somewhere far away that you haven’t been to before? We want to make sure the sign-in attempt doesn’t resemble other concerning sign-in patterns that may be on our radar at any given time.

Get an extra 2GB of Google Drive storage by doing a security check on your account. This'll also stack on top of last year's bonus, if you did it then as well.

This is great news from TRAI, Net Neutrality has won this round!

I have a small concern with the below statement - TRAI is essentially attempting to put everything on the Internet on an agnostic platform. Internet companies, however, will not fall under TRAI’s domain.

Doesn't the last sentence negate the impact/influence of the ruling?

Internet for All?!

Is that what you think is promised by the Facebook initiative Internet.Org? If it was, then they would offer Internet, not a few sites that Mark & his team think is the Internet. Read the article to understand the situation better. And make an informed choice.

Look beyond what is advertised & see beneath the hood. Just because FB lost round one doesn't mean they were going to bow down. They just renamed Internet.Org to FreeBasics.Org & presented people with the same thing again. This irks me, big time.

I, For one, am against such initiatives, where a big company tries to pass off profit as charity, while taking away the freedom to choose what users want.

(LinkedIn doesn't allow proper sharing of articles on its website to Google+, the actual title is replaced by a generic one. You know what's funny, On FB the shared article looks just fine.)

Another safety feature to safeguard you against phishing attacks, thanks to +Google

But the ultimate responsibility always lies with the user. Stay vigilant, stay safe!
It might look real, but is it? With Password Alert, get a warning if you enter your Google password into a site that isn’t the Google login page. Get Password Alert for Chrome → goo.gl/dVRqTo

This. Again & again. Until Net Neutrality is saved.
Net Neutrality lies at the core of how of consumers are able to access and use the internet. The Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. If there is no net neutrality, ISPs will have the power (and inclination) to shape internet traffic so that they can derive extra benefit from it.

If you are an Internet consumer & are concerned that Telecom companies can start charging you more for accessing certain new innovative Apps/websites, then the time to read, speak and act is now! Get involved in responding to the TRAI & make it known that you expect consumer interests to be fully protected. TRAI’s decisions over the next months shall determine India’s digital imprint for several decades.

Do share this post if you are concerned about the future of the internet in India.
