Tell Me A Story Feature
Stories Read By The Author - More Extended Content

I am delighted to say that following requests from persistent readers I have begun to record my stories in audio format on my site's new "Tell Me a Story" page: (http://elliekennard.ca/read-me/) Each audio file can also be downloaded from my Podcast page: http://elliekennard.ca/podcast/

Each audio file is also on the original story page. That way listeners can view the images that accompany each story while they listen.

Martha's Farm is the latest one to be produced in audio format: http://elliekennard.ca/podcast/marthas-farm/.

Mirages
With bonus content

"Cairn Island, as if strangely reversed, appears to rise like a mirage of land far out in the shimmering water of the Saint Lawrence river. I stand on the dock and find myself transported back to the last time I looked out on that scene. I was about 6 years old...."

You can also listen to an audio reading of the story, in my first multi-media posting. The link goes to the full story, more photographs, as well as the audio version. As I plan to extend the audio content to include existing stories as well as future ones, I have a new page on the site, "Tell Me a Story" where the audio content will be linked. In addition to the story, there is a short poem at the end. I hope you enjoy this extended content!

Edit: there is now a podcast feed for the new audio content.

Tout Compris
A short story

Tout compris roughly translated from the French means Everything is included, but it can also sound like the meaning Everything is understood.

This piece, a mini story was written on the back of an envelope, scribbled down feverishly, almost illegibly, while I was sitting on the train. This was a trip I took every Monday and Friday while I commuted to Montmorillon, in France, for my year at the Agricultural college there. I have always loved travelling by train and these words came to me, suddenly crystallizing of the reasons that I do.

Click on the blog link to come with me on this short train ride. Don’t bring a book!

"A little boy walks down the streets of Montreal with his father. The child’s name is Eric and he is 8 years old. His father, Thomas holds onto his hand tightly saying little to him along the way, but Eric will remember this walk for the rest of his life..."

A Story of Great Aunts and Rock Gardens

The combination of a summer cottage by a lake and a couple of elderly and eccentric great aunts has an irresistible appeal to any child born and brought up in the city.

My own particular great aunts were two spinsters, Olive and Francis, born at the end of the 19th century in Jersey, Channel Islands, ....

Some stories are just better told in a blog posting, especially if I want to include several images. I hope you enjoy reading this one. It's a story of some of my memories from my childhood.
