Tiny Fortress: Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, CA
She sipped her morning tea each day from her her tiny, sun-drenched solarium. Being diminutive herself, she never felt a sense of smallness or less-thanness in her small, cozy space. Mostly, she loved its expansive vista. She could survey her domain and log incoming visitors, long before they were aware of observation. She felt safe there.

Of course, her massive army - mobillized at a moment's notice - helped.

Ahhhh, I love this photo. It's a new one - and it arrived with that story. Fun!

It's also part of a MASSIVE remodel of my entire online world! You can see this one big here: http://bit.ly/2eHZlVl, and peruse the new works on the site.

It would look fabulous on metal. ;)

Refresh: Eagle Falls, Lake Tahoe
In between episodes of smoke filling the air from CA wildfires, I had a chance to go on an overnight rekkie to check out some areas around I haven't visited before. While I've been certainly to Eagle Falls many times, it's been awhile since I've done sunrise there. In fact, I avoid the area all summer on account of the crushing wave of tourists. Strangely, nary a one could be found at 5:30am! Lazy peeps. Haha!!

It was a fun adventure - and not that far from home.

It made me think... what simple adventures could YOU find not that far from home? Might be fun to get out and have one... there's still some summer left!

"Roses": Lake Tahoe, CA
Sometimes you make an image somewhere remote, new, never-before-seen. Other times, you go with the moment in a spot where a million others have stood. Is it any less of a blessing?

I think not.

Thanks Mother Nature, for being the boss-mama that you are.

Logged In At Tahoe: Lake Tahoe, NV

It's a banner year in our whole area this year. By that I mean... LOTS of water, more still melting off the incredible amount of snow we received this winter. The trees look happy, everything is astoundingly green - and lake levels are the highest they been in yearrrrs. Maybe ever. I'm so happy I'm here to see and experience it!

[Cue Happy Dance]

OH! My happy dance extends to the reminder that 2 NEW SPOTS are available for my September 2017 The Artist's Voice retreat in France: www.karenhutton.com/Sept2017. You asked, I listened. ;)

Still Harbor: Lake Tahoe, NV
Was going through some old photos looking for something and ran across this. It's from back in 2013, when I was using my Canon 5DIII.

What's notable today: this entire beach area and all the rocks are under water now! We had a HUGE winter and all the lakes and reservoirs are having to release water, just so they don't flood.

The other notable thing: how different the colors are on these files vs. my Fujifilm cameras. One guess as to which is quicker, easier and lovelier to work with!

A simply STUNNING day at Lake Tahoe last Monday! Today, a week later - it's fixing to rain.

This is an overview of a gorgeous nude beach at Tahoe. I was careful not to include any of the bathers, since everybody should be able to relax and enjoy themselves, IMO. But holy cow what a breathtaking day and spot!

Had to snowshoe to get here, then it was about 75-80 degrees F right on the sand. Microclimates-r-us!

Lupine at Sunset... Tahoe City, CA

It hasn't exactly been sunset mecca around here, between zero clouds and smoke from the Big Sur fire dusting us daily. Which makes me quadrupley glad that I made it out this one night some weeks ago to catch both the lupine by Lake Tahoe in all their glory AND one of the few cool beans sunsets of the season, all in the same frame.

On another note: Heard any good jokes lately? I'm in the mood...
(and keep it clean, people!)
