The Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff: (Welsh) Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru
A shot taken just before midnight yesterday of the Welsh Millennium Centre  in Cardiff Bay. The building was constructed using Welsh steel, wood and slate in 2002. The illuminated words on the front are two lines from the Welsh poet Gwyneth Lewis: In Welsh they read:
CREU GWIR
FEL GWYDR
O FFWRNAIS AWEN
In English they read:
IN THESE STONES
HORIZONS
SING

Ludlow Castle and the River Teme
Late on Friday night I had the less than brilliant idea of going to Ludlow Castle because I thought I might see Geminid Meteors going over it if I stood in the right direction. I did manage to see two short bursts before the clouds blew over but didn't manage to point the camera in the right direction quickly enough as they whizzed over.  Saturday and Sunday have been overcast so here's hoping for a clear night tomorrow.

The Snow Queen
This is a shot of a street performer in Ludlow outside the Medieval Christmas Fayre on Saturday. I am always astonished how still they can remain living statues for many minutes on end.

The Sweet Shop
Tenbury Wells Worcestershire. It's only about three hundred yards from the border with Shropshire so although technically not part of "Shropshire and Wales" it's literally and metaphorically within a gobstopper's throw.

Medieval Hopton Castle
A shot from Friday night at Hopton Castle in Shropshire which dates from the 11th or 12th centuries according to archeologists but which was later  the place of an infamous siege in the English Civil War when the inhabitants were killed after finally surrendering following a siege in 1644.
The light to the left of the photo is my torch as I  went off to watch the bats flying over the pond. I was very surprised to see several bats as well as hearing frogs in mid April.

Ironbridge- The world's first bridge to be made from Iron
The Royal Mail have issued a set of ten stamps featuring the most impressive bridges in Britain. One stamp features my favourite: Ironbridge in Shropshire which I regularly visit , a 100 foot long cast iron bridge constructed over the River Severn in 1779. It was the first such bridge in the world and is a Unesco World Heritage Site
