I started this work more than 10 years ago. It 's my first work as photographic project. In fact I can say that it is with this project that I started the way to become the photographer I am now.
They are portraits of plastic people, made of mannequins that I found in the shop windows and dolls, from the most famous to the ones you buy for little money.
It 'a job on stereotypes and I believe that these subjects tell about pressure we are under, pressures we receive constantly but so subtly hidden. That are the worst pressures.
The mannequins represent the model that is instilled in us, they are young, beautiful, always fashionable. Rather they are always one step ahead in fashion, they tell us how we will be in the next season, but we will never be, because we are real, we age, put on weight, we dress in the clothes of past years.
This model, what is imposed on us, in my opinion it is obvious especially for what concerns women's bodies and the psychological model related. "Women" are always feminine in everything, clothes, accessories, attitudes. At least as can be imagined by a male mind. But even the "men" follow the same model only the other side, remember Ken?
I don't try to take beautiful pictures, however I try to take pictures capable of striking, perhaps unsettling. I did it?
