Church of the Society of Jesus in Cusco, Peru. This is one of the most beautiful places in Peru, in my opinion. We spent a week sightseeing in this city and I can't wait to get back there. There is so much more to see in and around Cusco. It's about an hour flight from Lima so there is really no excuse not to visit this city if one is already in Lima.

Yanque, Arequipa, Peru. This is a town I stayed at for a couple of nights. It is a very quiet and cozy place, although just to the right of the church there is a smoking volcano!

While traveling to Maras Moray in Peru I came across this shepherd boy walking his pigs along the dirt road leading to the wonderful Andes Mountains that you can see in the background.

This is an image of a sunset in Arequipa, Peru. The building on the left is part of the beautiful cathedral. This shot doesn't do it justice so I will need to find few more images of it.

Pisac, characterized by the agricultural Inca terraces, is located around 30Km from the city of Cusco in Peru. This image shows the valley, some houses, today’s agricultural land and the roads.

Here is a picture I took in Machu Picchu, Peru.

In the distance on top of the pyramid to the right is the sun clock  known as the Intihuatana. You can see some tourists up there trying to catch a glimpse of it. I heard that in the recent past you could get all the way to the sun clock and touch it, but these days there is a rope fence along which people are rushed through.  I literally had about 10 seconds to take some pictures before I had to continue forward. I guess this is quite reasonable since there are thousands of tourists passing through Machu Picchu each day.

I was also hoping for a sunny day, but all I got were clouds. In the end though, I think the misty conditions added some mystery and worked out very well. What can I say, this gives me a reason to come back to the site another time when the sun is shining light on the sun clock. I love visiting Peru for its rich history, archaeological sites and truly beautiful landscapes. I should also mention the culinary mastery of the Peruvian chefs, the food is delicious and the people are welcoming.
