Can't believe I forgot to upload this earlier since it was actually ready early last week. This was done as an entry for the Daz Studio Platinum Club PC Inspirations contest last week which required you to use at least 1 item that was added to the club the week before. As soon as I saw the decorative glass shaders I had this idea of using them on a variety of the animal figures that I have.

Another pinup/portrait style this week, this one features a nice alien girl in a noir setting. This was mainly about playing around with lighting and the camera settings in the IRay render engine. This is 100% what came out of the render engine, no postwork, even the desaturation was done in the engine. I'm finding there is a lot that can be done just using the engine and proper lighting effects. The main problem is that you need to render it out to see the effects of your changes and for more complicated scenes that can take a while.

I missed last week due to being on vacation, though I do have something ready just not yet rendered out. Since I'm still recovering from vacation and a few other RL things I decided to try something fairly simple this week. One thing I've been thinking of doing is a series of portrait images featuring fantasy/scifi type characters so this week leads off with a portrait of Nadria, the Orc Princess.

Late again this week for a variety of reasons. The main one being that the group scene that I've been working toward with the runner versions of the Scoobby Group is pretty complex for my machine making it hard to move around. It's also going to take some bashing to actually render since it sucked up all my memory, pegged my CPU at 100% and even after 12 hours of rendering was less than 5% complete. I figure I'm going to have to render it out in pieces over time and then stitch it together in PhotoShop.

To make sure I at least got something out for the week I decided to use Velma and create a magazine cover. It's not overly complicated but at least it keeps me thinking about how to render different things as well as gave me a chance to play around with some more gel lights in IRay.

This weeks render is a bit late as well as not being as complete as I'd like. The wife and I spent the 4th of July holiday out of town with her family so I wasn't near my main PC until Wednesday and then some other issues cropped up that made it difficult to be at my desk for more than an hour or so at a time. I really need a few more days to get this the way I wanted it but I'm also trying to stick to the plan of pushing out something every week. As I keep hearing over and over from creative types the key to improving is to keep putting out content. If you want to be a writer then you need to write every day, if you want to be an artist then you need to do something in your chosen medium daily.

So this week we have the last of the cyberpunk versions of the Scoobbie Group Phreadd. I kind of see Phread as a Rigger in ShadowRun terms, since he's always the one driving the Mystery Machine. I could also see him using those skills to control drones and bots. As I said this one needs a lot more work, not the least of which would be adding some data jacks as well as some sort of wrist mounted cybernetic control pad.

This week it was Scrappy's turn to be modernized. Since the original Scrappy was a dwarf warrior I figured that would translate over to a cybernetic fighter (a Street Samurai in ShadowRun terms). A nice set of glowing armor and a few implants and he's all set to wreak havoc.

Next week is Phreadd then I'll have to work on coming up with something else while I'm building the scene I have in mind for this bunch.

This weeks entry in the ShadowRun like Scoobbie Group is the Elven Street Mage Daphyne. I also picked up ForbiddenWhispers Light 2 Life Light Gels for Iray (www.daz3d.com/light-2-life-lig…) in a sale this week and you can see that I'm also starting to experiment with them.

This week we continue building the ShadowRun-ish version of the Scoobbie Group with the defacto leader herself. This is Scoobbie as an elven shaman, I wanted to go a bit more cowboy meets hippie chic with her look compared to last weeks version of Shaggey as a street shaman. I see her more in tune with the natural world while Shaggey tends to be more out in the spirit realm. She also tends to be more practical, hence the pistol.

This week I continued to build the characters for the cyberpunk Scoobbie Group render I want to do with Shaggey. Unlike Velma, who changed from an EQ Cleric to a cyberpunk decker type, Shaggey remained a shaman. Though he does have a tribal style tattoo instead of his normal goatee.

This week I decided to spend some time saving the custom characters I've created over the years as custom actor files so that I can easily reuse them down the road. While I was saving off the original Scoobby Group characters I'd done earlier this year I had an idea for a scene using them in a kind of cyberpunk (think ShadowRun) setting.

Getting all of the characters reset and saved off took me longer than I'd planned so I didn't really have time to get the whole scene together. I also had to spend quite a bit of time getting the implant connection built up from pieces and I probably wasted more hours than I should have trying to get a cable fromt eh data pad to that connector before I gave up for now. With all of that I've decided I"m going to do another series of each of the characters in their modern outfits then finish off with the whole scene render.
