A castle with a view

Fa'side Castle stands overlooking the firth of forth and beyond. It has a wealth of history and during my childhood had turned into ruins. Now beautifully rebuildt it is a landmark for me as I walk the beaches and fields below. This view of the castle takes me back to a time when I was part of the annual Musselburgh ride out and galloped up this field to raise the flag for the Festival week

Through the Portal of Time

It always seems to me that stepping through this fissure in the rocky ground onto the beach at Cummingstone, Morayshire is a journey into the space of "No time"...These rocks are ancient and as the sea has shaped and eroded the coastline Dinosaur footprints have emerged. Come step through with me~~~

Among the stones of Humbie Kirk..
Set in the folds of the Lammermuir hills this little Kirk once occupied this space way back in the 17th century at the time of the Reformation in Scotland. Such peace and quiet exists here among the trees and with a little stream making its way into the larger river. It is still in use today and has been renovated in the 19th century. Standing among the stones it was time to pay respect and say goodbye to all that has gone before.

"That castle rises on the steep of the great vale of Tyne
And far beneath where slow they creep
From pool to eddy dark and deep
Where alders moist and Willows weep
Your hear the streams repine" Extract from Marmion on Chrichton Castle
Sir Walter Scott
A Sunday to breathe the cold still air of the Lammermuir Hills to expand and let imagination fly. Sounds of Silence as I raise my eyes to the hills~~~~
