Again, how ridiculous is it that we need this? It truly is the dark ages in America. Or maybe more like the Inquisition.

I think some people underestimate how important nurses are. I'm glad that a bunch of smart and thoughtful people I know are in our moving into the profession. This video shows that nurses can be the front line in saving patients lives. Just think about that next time you write off nurses as just paid help who brings you juice and wipes your ass.

Hopefully there are no surprises here, but somehow it's nice to see it demonstrated in simple experiments.

The Oroville dam water level is now down 30 feet from when it started flooding over the top. The rain is back but levels are still going down - so far. Meanwhile frantic repairs to the emergency spillway are going on, LA Times has a summary here: http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-me-oroville-flooding/

and there are a lot of videos of the spillway in various flood stages through Wednesday with repairs going on here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeod6x87Tu6eVFnSyEtQeOVbxvSWywPlx

I'm just wondering how long the main spillway can hold up at the current rate of water release. Sooner or later I would imagine they need to stop it and repair there. Although it is such a huge hole it is difficult to imagine the would be able to do it quickly.

Great montage of Space X landings. I'm always amazed when it lands on that ocean barge that looks like it's in a frickin' hurricane!

How ridiculous is it that Americans have to resort to projects like this to save scientific data collected and paid for with their own hard-earned tax dollars? Talk about theft from We The People, this is daylight robbery of our scientific wealth and legacy!

And they (Donald Trump's goons) are doing this all for what? To protect a few soon-to-be obsolete industries that want to hang on to the lust buck, and to delay to the last minute (probably several decades too late) investment in protecting out future as a nation and a planet. Let's just say as a scientist this makes me mad; as a taxpayer, it makes me mad; as a human being, it makes me mad. It's like they are going to libraries and burning books, going to galleries and destroying art, or bulldozing history buildings etc. etc. Just makes no sense at all.

Let's just hope, beyond this project, there are backups and conscientious scientists who for the good of humanity refuse to destroy this data.
