I often hear from clients: “We want to create and make a statement. Usually, I recommend using lighting design, more specifically decorative lighting fixtures to address this need.

In general, decorative lighting draws attention. Sometimes, the form and style of these fixtures are far more important than the amount of light it gives off.

In fact, the main purpose of decorative lighting is to add sophistication and beauty, be eye catchy, and make a statement in a space.

Here’s a great example of an innovative lighting design that can create a striking impact

If you have a perception that lighting can’t be considered as  art, you may change your mind after seeing this exquisite hand-blow chandelier.

Varied shapes and colors  compose this beautiful glass lighting sculpture. The artistic elements  create a wide range of possibilities  for use in interior spaces  as well as lighting design. That could be a pretty amazing element!!

Lighting is an extremely important element of interior design. It is very interesting to me that clients normally overlooked lighting during the design process. Maybe, the topic gets a bit technical, and then not the most enjoyable.

Lighting has psychological and physiological effects on people. When I am designing a space, you will undoubtedly learn that layering proper lighting  is critical for the functionality, mood, atmosphere, and sustainability of a space. Certainly it is not a simple task; but very important to do it right.

I always think of lighting as art. Like art, a beautiful light fixture can make a strong statement while providing illumination. Innovative designs create an atmosphere that totally envelops and captivates the spectator. What could be better?

Beautiful lighting designs  always captivate our eye, but designing the lighting for office spaces requires even more considerations. More specifically, productivity, efficiency, satisfaction are high priorities goals, and lighting design are expected to support and contribute with the environment. In an office work environment, think of lighting design as visual comfort that results in happy people and happy people are normally productive workers.

The Japanese Architecture has always fascinated me. Maybe it is the intimate connection with nature, minimalist approach or the lighting exploration. It makes a lot of sense and once you understand , everything clicks into place. As an example, Japan weather is often stormy and cloudy (nature); at certain times of the day a space can become too dark  (lighting) and the only solution is to integrate light to evoke a pleasant atmosphere (minimalist design approach). Look at this curious, organic and truly inspirational Japanese residential project that features a very innovative lighting design.

Almost any space can be transformed into  perfect by lighting it correctly.  We must consider the architecture, space configuration and focus on aesthetics features and blind spots. We will not only draw attention to just right areas, but guarantee you enjoy  the space we are in.

The following image presents a very organic, architectural lighting application. Regardless of whether the space is modern or traditional, the lighting design creates a strong visual interest and sense of welcoming. It is clear to me that lighting is a design element that can create a great impact, so why we are not using to express our brand and personality?
