Welcome to my Collection about Assorted Arthropods!

Quite a broad term, isn't it? That's because here I will post all the critters that I don't shoot often enough to warrant getting a whole Collection for them. Sometimes I might even post a non-arthropod! /gasp! A bit sad, but I hope all of these "reject" will be happy in this Collection.

If you found this collection because it's featured (or otherwise): thank you so much for checking it out, I hope you'll enjoy it!

As a brief introduction in this pinned post, let me just take the time to say that I'm a simple amateur photographer; I started out with borrowed equipment and have steadily improved my gear to get to my current setup. Practice, of course, is the most important aspect, as well as interaction with everyone else. I love to talk about my shots!
That said, I think it is only fair to expect others to treat photographers with respect - a lot of effort went into making these pictures... Therefore, if you feel like sharing this work with others: please use the reshare function and do not download and re-post.

Precarious balance

It doesn't look like this damselfly has a good grip on its perch. Might explain why it flew off immediately after I took this picture ;)

Hop hop

It was quite tough, getting a shot of this small grasshopper. Everytime I moved to get a better angle it jumped away!

This silly grasshopper looks like it just woke up and wonders why a scary photog is all in its face with a camera...

And now... the conclusion of this epic 2 part series!

#INSEX

It had to be it, what else would drive a critter to such extremes :)

So. for clarity.. here we see the upper half of a fe male damselfly, locked in an embrace with a fe male (shared earlier today, in this Collection), of whom we only see the business end.

S He's got him her by the... neck!

Locked in a vicious circle, what brought this male female Ode in this uncomfortable position?!
Stay tuned for the epic conclusion, tonight at 20:30 CEST!

Spot the grasshopper!

Well, I guess it's not so hard from this angle... but looking from a "human" perspective it was quite hard to spot on the sandy soil ;)

An Ode to joy

Yet another damselfly in this Collection... but we don't really mind that, do we? :)

Ploiiiink

That's the sound I imagine a springtail makes when it jumps away. Derpy little shiny balls :)
