These rustic flatbreads made using sorghum and pearl millet flour hail from the Kathiawar region of Gujarat. Had with a spicy potato curry, it makes a hearty #vegan and #glutenfree meal. When deep fried, they make a tasty snack that makes for perfect travel food, that lasts for 2-3 days.

A Bengali delicacy , Sheem Paturi - Tender flat beans from my kitchen garden, tossed with a freshly dug out sweet potato, topped with a spice paste that has all the punch mustard can muster, add to that the fierceness of tiny green chilies, all of this packed up in a banana leaf parcel and steamed cooked to perfection in a pan. Had with steamed rice, this is a divine delicacy indeed and you MUST try it out.

Kala Chana Pulao - flavorful, delicious and wholesome

This robust pulao combines a tasteful combination of black chickpeas and brown rice. Being low in fat, high in dietary fiber, black chickpea is an excellent source of protein. It can be a good choice to add them to your diet, especially if you are a vegan or a vegetarian. This #pulao is beautifully flavored and deliciously fragrant. The stock is the key ingredient and, which gives the rice it’s black color. This is my mother's recipe. The only change I made is the addition of candied carrot strips.

You don't need a curry, chutney or a pickle on the side. It goes great simply with raita or plain yogurt.
