Orchids Drama
Lighting and setting makes a big difference in appreciating the beauty of orchids. Seen at the Safeway supermarket wine department at Biltmore Plaza, Phoenix, Arizona. Did not have a perfect place for this photo in my Collections, so here it is in the Arizona series. At least they are available here in Arizona, if not or never "in the wild" here. Desert Landscaping, Resort
Prickly pear cactus. very photogenic and I have to get a photo every year I attend the Tucson Rock and Gem Show venue at the Westward Look. And look at the pretty desert landscape plants and setting on the way to the lobby there, in Tucson, Arizona in February.

Orchid at Safeway Supermarket

Purple Pansy and Pollen
(for *Floral Friday #floralfriday hosted by +Tamara Pruessner and +Beth Akerman and +Eustace James and +Kiki Nelson

A brilliant purple pansy at blooming peak with pollen galore. At my home in Phoenix, Arizona. This image shows the main part of the pot 'o pansies I brought home from the store last weekend. I shared the large yellow and brown one earlier this week online. Now here I had a dilemma since I had to place the pot in bright sun to backlight it in order for the colors of the purple flowers to come out. Outside of bright sun the purple is so very dark it seems like different flowers entirely. The dilemma is that I wanted to be careful to get as much color detail on the levels and tones as possible. But then the scattering of minute pollen all over the petals becomes very clear to see as well. So the question: show the pollen or just use editing to make them "picture perfect"?

If you do look closely at a large view, no that is not dust on my camera sensor and it is not dust on your monitor, ha ha! What do you think - should I leave the pollen to show or edit it out? I do have a few other images of this pot of flowers and a couple I decided to emphasize a painterly and watercolor look with the lighting I chose.

Pansy Yell-ow in Arizona
Whooda thunk that pansies would do so well blooming in Arizona of all places? This time of year, from December to March there are blooming, vivid pansies everywhere in landscaping of homes and businesses. This bright photo is posted today to bring a little lightness in our lives and it was suggested to me when I saw the color theme of the day from +Heidi Anne Morris in her post:
Today's #colouroftheday is YELLOW 😁😊👒👑💰🐥💡🎷 if you have an image that's mostly Yellow please tag me in your post so I can take a look too !😊 #

*Prickly Pear Cactus Flowers *
A pretty bouquet or array of cactus flowers, seen in April in Phoenix, Arizona. Yes, I know it is winter across much of the mainland US, but We've only had a few cold nights here so generally I am nicely warm. This photo is one I had fun rediscovering since a very large view shows a bumblebee or honeybee. I never saw it before in similar photos taken at this same time. So if you Zoom in you will see this great cactus plant and it is fun to browse there.
I am only an entire day out from

Dog Town Sunflower, Phoenix
Not many dog groomers provide both a grassy area "comfort station" for dogs, but also a beautiful tiny garden near the front door. A cheery greeting with this October sunflower this morning in Phoenix, AZ. Oh yes, my two dogs are looking especially sweet after a well-deserved bath and grooming.

Pale Columbine
Seen 8 years ago in the Farm at South Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona. A pale and pastel look at delicate flowers. Ah the joy of having a treasure chest to open from time to time. I've been having fun with archive images from 8 years ago when I got my first dSLR camera and was learning how to use it. This is posted for #floralfriday hosted for many years by +Tamara Pruessner and +Beth Akerman and +Eustace James and +Kiki Nelson

Pink Snap
Majestic and tall snapdragons in Phoenix, Arizona in Spring. For those who were members of the +Lauri Novak photography mentorship called How Do You See?, this is one of the images I shot one morning when we were to try to stretch to get hundreds of photos. And I discovered that my AV mode on my full frame camera was no longer working correctly! So I saved the photos and was depressed for months. Still, since it was full frame, I was able to crop a much smaller square from this image and work with it to post for #floralfriday which is hosted by +Tamara Pruessner and +Beth Akerman and +Eustace James and +Kiki Nelson for so many years. Phoenix Overcast, Acacia Trees
It's not always sunny here and this scene was to the west while on the other side of the parking lot where I took the photo had a sky that was bright blue and had some white fluffy clouds. Posted for #treetuesday hosted by +David R Robinson and +Kim Troutman and +Allan Cabrera and +Ralph Mendoza
