Now how cool would have this sculpture been plonked on the grotto near the sea ;)
Admittingly, logistically a bit difficult, but.... not impossible

Metal Beetle.

There is one positive of lots of light pollution in Sydney, when you get a bit of cloud cover and some pretty hectic wind you end up with some interesting clouds.
I really liked this sculpture, simple and clever..

I found the grim reaper..

I gotta say this particular sculpture at Sculptures by the Sea this year did not really match the prime spot by the ocean, previous years sculptures seemed to compliment the spot better.. maybe its just the fact that it's a rather small sculpture. However given that the sculpture does not gain benefit from the stone grotto or outlook onto the ocean it may have been better suited up on the hill..
hey Sculptures by the Sea, I'm available for consultation next year ;) feel free to contact me ;)

Glow Worm Reaper

Be careful when wandering the tunnels, you never know what, or who you will find...

Plane catcher

This image is a single shot of one the larger sculptures this year known as 'Signed' by Jonathon Leahey. The lighting in this one is pretty simple, lots of blue EL wire on the ground and flowing out from the pole, this effect is pretty easy to achieve by holding one end of the EL wire to the pole and shaking it slightly then letting it go and dragging it across the ground towards the camera, or radially away from the pole.

The red colour at the base and also on the top is by shining a red torch. The great thing about these kind of shots is that they are super easy to edit, very little required and all the hard work is done during the capture of the scene.

Exif / shot love:
D750 coupled with Samyang 14mm f2.8 @ 14mm
Shutter speed: 452.0s
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO 100

Proof that you can do star trails in Sydney :)

you just need to pick the right night and look in the right direction, this is a little gif from a set of images that did not quite work due to some uncooperative clouds, which seemed to be only in one place :(
