New York Fashion Week Embraces the Shoppable Runway

This New York Fashion Week several designers are using their digital power by jumping on the “see-now, buy-now”  bandwagon; the idea that rather than consumers having to wait up to six months for the collections to hit stores, they can indeed watch it on the runway and immediately make a purchase. Tommy Hllfiger, Rebbeca Minkof, and Kanye West's Yeezy will all be using digital media as a means to shop their shows.

Barneys New York has partnered with Maison Margiela for its fall windows. The retailer’s four Madison Avenue–facing vignettes were created as a collaboration between Maison Margiela creative director, John Galliano, and the department store’s creative director, Dennis Freedman, to reflect ideas from Maison Margiela’s Spring 2016 Artisanal and Fall 2016 ready-to-wear collections—namely those of juxtaposition and deconstruction.

Lady Gaga wears Gucci for Superbowl 50

Lady Gaga  has the  pick of the lot when it comes to designer clothing so when it came time to decide on the outfit she would be wearing to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the opening of the 50th Super Bowl on Sunday she went with Italian design house Gucci.

Gaga asked Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele to create something for her appearance at the 50 yard line of Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Michele created a custom hibiscus red Lurex two-button peak lapel suit with flared pants. His input also extended to accessories: Gaga wore Gucci platform heels with a brass cat head and spike details. Gaga herself added sparkle eye makeup and blue nail polish.

“I’ve always been intrigued and fascinated by Gaga.” “She is a chameleon, she has the capability to fully express her individuality and her eclectic personality by simply being herself. When she asked me to create an outfit for such a symbolic moment at the Super Bowl, I was very honored. I went for red: pure energy for an energetic woman performing on an energizing event.”  Alessandro Michele told +WWD

Lady Gaga nailed it with true Italian style!
