Artist Scott Kildall had the official opening of his Strewn Fields project in a gallery in San Francisco on December 5. Now, his website is updated with images of the artwork. The project is a data-visualization of meteorite impact data etched into stone. Working with Institute scientist Peter Jenniskens, Scott's artwork is inspired by the strewn fields of Almahata Sitta, Sutter's Mill, Chelyabinsk, and Saricicek.

I hope you can take a moment to watch my video (), because our search for extraterrestrial life is not just another research project, but one of the most profound voyages of discovery ever undertaken.

Today, you can make a huge impact on this work. After seeing the overwhelming success of our $50,000 match, another generous SETI Institute Trustee has issued a new challenge to SETI supporters. For one LAST DAY, help raise an additional $20,000 and it will be DOUBLED!

Of course, some think that curiosity, and the exploration it inspires, are frivolous. With all the problems in the world, why bother? But history tells us that such an attitude is myopic. Any society with lasting power does these things.

I believe exploration and curiosity are what define us as a society, and I know they motivate all of us here at The SETI Institute. "Are we alone in the universe?" is more than just a tag line for our research; it's a question that, finally, we could answer.

Every donation will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to an additional $20,000. Your gift will go twice as far to support the work and outreach of our 80 world-class, multidisciplinary scientists. Give here today: http://buff.ly/2irE2Hu

Great video but it has a pledge drive feel to it.

This past year, discoveries of exoplanets that orbit distant stars, as well as an Earth-sized exoplanet in the habitable zone of Proxima Centauri, show that intelligent life might not only be commonplace, but could be relatively nearby.

We've committed ourselves to not just conduct the best SETI research programs, but to also develop innovative educational and public outreach programs to engage the world.

The SETI Institute depends on private sources of funding to continue our search and support our outreach. That's why your generous support is so important. Without supporters like you, our quest could come to an end.

We have this incredible opportunity to raise an additional $20,000 to support SETI's work. Make a tax-deductible donation before December 31st and your gift will be matched.

As part of the festive season, The International Space Orchestra offers a cover of Sigur Rós’ song "Viðrar vel til loftárása", produced by Sigur Rós with long-term collaborator musician Alex Somers and performed by the International Space Orchestra.

The International Space Orchestra (ISO) is an assembly of star-spangled space scientists from NASA Ames Research Center, Singularity University and the SETI Institute. This recording acts as a poignant memory of their performance as a support act to the band at the Hollywood Bowl on 24th September 2016 during Sigur Rós’ world tour.

It is truly inspiring to work with my colleagues Frank Drake, Edna DeVore, Jill Tarter and Seth Shostak, as we invite you to join our quest. I hope you've had a chance to watch their videos.

These four individuals are some of the brightest minds in our scientific community, and they have dedicated their life's work to probing the answer to one of mankind's most profound questions: "Are we alone in the universe?"

You see, we are committed to searching for and understanding life beyond our planet—and your support makes our exploration, education and outreach programs possible.

Right now you can double the impact of your donation. The SETI Institute Board of Trustees has offered to match every donation made, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000—and we're almost there!

Donate here today: http://buff.ly/2hpTwrT
