The Secret Of Change -- Osage, Arkansas

Wheels Of Fire -- Tacoma, Washington
“You know, rust is just oxidation. The same chemical process as fire. Oxygen interacts with steel, electrons drift from one element to the other. So really, rust is a slow fire. Isn't that weird? Water causes something to burn.”
― Leah Raeder

Shafted -- Osage, Arkansas
"The overarching issue, as I see it, is the elitism of America's political system; the fact that regular, ordinary Americans aren't considered in policy debates or legislation, and regularly get shafted by the powers-that-be in Washington."
-- Jerry Springer

Deus Ex Machina -- Fort Collins, Colorado
"Consciousness isn't a journey upward, but a journey inward. Not a pyramid, but a maze. Every choice could bring you closer to the center or send you spiraling to the edges, to madness."

You Are The Universe -- Fort Collins, Colorado
"Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. That’s kinda cool! That makes me smile and I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It’s not that we are better than the universe, we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us."
-- Neil deGrasse Tyson

Become Your Own Guardian -- Fort Collins, Colorado
“She'd grown up hearing about epic battles between Guardians and demons, of legendary Wardens and their brave fight to keep the nocturnis at bay. To her, it all had the air of fairy tales, history through the lens of the Brothers Grimm. She listened to the tales the same way she listened to Beowulf, and had the same expectation of ever featuring in one of those famous battles as of facing Grendel's mother in a Scandinavian swamp.
Yet here she was, not just fighting the forces of evil but somehow tied to her very own Guardian, acting for all intents and purposes like the Warden she had once dreamed of becoming.”
― Christine Warren, Hard as a Rock

This is the gargoyle that guards my back yard. The squirrels won't go near him, and it took a while for my dogs to feel comfortable around him. But everything is peaceful in my back yard and so far no mountains have fallen on the house. So far. ;-)

Partners in Crime -- Fort Collins, Colorado
When I was a very little boy, this guy was my constant buddy and partner in crime for countless adventures. This is Butch Panhead, part of the Fisher-Price lineup of wooden toy figurines in the early '70's. Though my original Butch was lost long ago, my mom recently sent me a replacement she'd found on Ebay. I guess she thought I wasn't having enough adventures, nowadays. :)
