"Editing Iceland by Air Photos"

As I continue to pack up my family and our house for a move from Colorado to the East Coast, there is nothing quite as therapeutic as sitting down and processing some images. This time it is of some incredible aerial photography I took from a plane in Iceland last month. After so many trips to Iceland, I can safely say that I love seeing the country from a few thousand feet up in the air!

Behind the Lens || Sunset over Bruarfoss

Easily one of my favorite waterfalls in Iceland, Bruarfoss isn't located that far away from some of the bigger and more iconic falls in the country. However because it sits behind a private gated community, it gets much less traffic in terms of visitors and even photographers.

Regardless, if you get a chance to check it out during the summer or winter months...you will be greeted with an incredible view of a waterfall with crazy blue colors throughout!

This photo is from my annual Iceland Summer Adventure Photo Workshop this year where I took my clients to this awesome location.

Behind the Lens || BEHIND Iceland Waterfalls

Behind the Lens | The Light in Patagonia

After three incredible days hiking/camping into the back country of Cerro Torre in Patagonia, I am finally back in El Chalten to rest for a day or two before hiking into a new location. How good was the light? After two epic sunrise and an incredible sunset, plus two nights if clear skies...I was blown away. So much great content to come!

Behind the Lens || Fjallsárlón Glacier Reflections

I always love exploring Iceland at different times of the year. Last night I took my workshop clients to Fjallsarlon Glacier, which is right next to the more popular Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon. Needless to say the story dramatic clouds and perfectly still water made for great reflections.

Lots more goodness to come! 2016 workshop schedule will be up soon!

Another challenging day in paradise!

So far this workshop group has had amazing weather throughout our trip. Let's hope this continues for the next few days as we head further south and east here in Iceland.

Behind The Lens || Wahclella Falls

Last day in Portland means yet another 430am wake up call (4th in a row) to head to the Columbia River Gorge one last time in order to avoid both the crowds and the sun, allowing me to work with pretty even light.

This is Wahclella Falls, where I spent the better part of the morning moving through the streams in my wadders to get different angles and perspectives on the well photographed waterfall.

This afternoon it is off to Vancouver, BC via the Amtrak Cascades train (one of my favorite train rides in the US).

Behind the Lens || Columbia River Gorge

What do you do when you only have two days left in Portland and the weather forecast shows nothing but blue bird skies? You wake up at 4:45am and head out into the Columbia River Gorge and photograph a few waterfalls while they are still in the shade.

Here you can see Panther Creek note Shington side of the gorge. Can't wait to edit this one!

Behind the Lens || Columbia River Gorge

I am out here in Portland for a few days working on a number of video projects with my good friends over at +Wacom. Here is just a small taste of what we have been working with while working in the Columbia River Gorge, namely the pathway to Emerald Falls.

I think a trip back here in Spring is need to explore more of this incredible part of the US!
