Puerto Rico is an archipelago located in the Caribbean Sea and situated approximately 237 miles east of the Dominican Republic. Puerto Rico is an unincorporated United States of America territory.

Puerto Rico is the birthplace to many great athletes, especially in the field of baseball and boxing. In baseball, some of the great baseball players are: Roberto Clemente, Orlando Cepeda, Roberto Alomar, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada and Carlos Beltran. In boxing, some of the great boxers are: Wilfredo Gomez, Felix Trinidad, Miguel Cotto and Wilfred Benitez.

The Bahamas consists of 700 islands and 2,400 cays (only 30 of these islands are inhabited), these Islands are located in the Atlantic Ocean, situated northeast of Cuba and southeast of Florida.

The capital of the Bahamas is Nassau which is also its largest city, the official language of The Bahamas is English. The Bahamas gained its independence from the United Kingdom (England) in 1973.

The Dominican Republic shares an Island with its neighbor to the west, Haiti. The Dominican Republic is known for producing some of the greatest baseball players in history, such as: Albert Pujols, Sammy Sosa, Moisés Alou, Adrián Beltré, José Bautista, Robinson Canó, Bartolo Colón, Vladimir Guerrero, Francisco Liriano, Juan Marichal, Pedro Martínez, David Ortiz and Juan Uribe. This country also has some great surf spots.

Haiti shares an island with the Dominican Republic, its neighbor to the east and is situated south of North America and north of South America. Though not know for its surfing spots, you can find surfing spots in this country.

Jamaica is an Island nation located in the Caribbean. It is situated south of North America and north of South America.

Jamaica is the birth place of Reggae and was home to the late great Bob Marley. It is also the birth place to the current fastest man in the World, 6 time Olympic gold medalist, Usain Bolt.

Jamaica is not known as a premeire surf destination but it does have it surf spots.

Panama is bordered by Costa Rica to the north and Colombia to the South. The Caribbean Sea is on Panama’s eastern coastline and the Pacific Ocean is on its western coastline.

With over 1,500 miles of coastline and a host of beaches on that coastline, there are great deal of surfing spots in Panama.

Nicaragua is a Central American country and is the largest country, in land mass, in Central America. Nicaragua is bordered by Honduras to the North and Costa Rica to the South. The Caribbean Sea is on Nicaragua's eastern coastline and the Pacific Ocean is on its western coastline.

If you visit this Central American country, make sure to bring your surfboard, because there are surf spots here where you will find some of the best surfing in Nicaragua.

El Salvador is a Central American country bordered by Guatemala and Honduras, the Pacific Ocean is on its western coastline. El Salvador is also known as the “Land of Volcanoes,” it has frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity.

El Salvador is the only Central American country without a Caribbean Sea coastline. You can surf spots in this Central American country that will offers some of the best surfing in El Salvador.

Peru is a South American country that is bordered by five countries, beginning from North to South, they are: Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. Its Northern and Western coastlines are touched by the Pacific Ocean.

Approximately 13% of the Amazon Rainforest is located inside Peru and the famous Incan Citadel, Machu Picchu, is located high in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Peru also is a great spot for surfing, follow the link to learn more.
