From Arabica to Robusta; Laos' Bolaven Plateau is the place for a hot steaming cup of freshly-brewed coffee

Coffee bean plantations on this elevation in the Champasak province are entwined with small, low-rise resorts, perfectly reflecting the country's desire to keep things running at a much calmer pace. http://bit.ly/1QQC6yH

Originally a Buddhist monastery and now part of the UNESCO World Heritage with roofs sweeping gracefully to the ground, Wat Xieng Thong is considered to be the most magnificent inside Luang Prabang.

The most beautiful details are the walls of the temple, decorated with delicate gold patterns on a maroon background. http://bit.ly/1QQC6yH

The completion of a new hydro dam in the Nam Ou River has permanently put a stop on river cruises between Nong Khiaw and Muang Khua, effective immediately.

Asian Trails Laos continues to operate overland tours in this region and where possible, continues to include cruises through this magnificent part of the country.

To meet the increasing demand for innovative settings for events, the
Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre (TAEC) in Luang Prabang has opened its doors for cocktail receptions and private visits after visiting hours.

TAEC is the main exhibition centre in Laos, dedicated to the multiple ethnic minorities in the country. With a capacity for groups up to 30 guests TAEC’s décor forms a unique backdrop for smaller incentives that want to add some local flavour to delight the guests. http://bit.ly/1QQC6yH

It is unthinkable not to associate Laos with the importance of rice cultivation.

With over 75% of the agricultural land dedicated to the plantation of rice, expect to touch base one way or the other with Laos' most important source of nutrition when your soak in the beauty of this land-locked country. http://bit.ly/1QQC6yH

Named among the world religions, one tends to overlook the true meaning of Buddhism and the spiritual message its brings with it.

In its core, Buddhism strives in seeking spiritual development without seeking adoration of deities or gods. It tends to steer its believers to find a balance in oneself and deepen the meaning of life and nature.

Aspects of Buddhism are woven like a red threat in all of our Asian Trails journeys, whether it be the Mahayana or the Theravada side.

Early-morning risers will get the best seats in the house for the annual boat races in Laos, particularly when you're in Vientiane.

Following the Boun Ork Phansa Festival (the end of the Buddhist Lent), it is fun and cheers all day as teams from all around the region compete for the top spot. On 6 October, offices in Laos will be closed as colleagues dress up in their team colors and scream their rowing champions to the finish line. http://bit.ly/2xftpLr

Laotian long tail boats are built to smoothly navigate the numerous waterways with a permanent 'top down' for 360-degree views of what lies before and around the next bend.

It is by far the best way to marvel at what makes Laos a destination of such breathtaking proportions. http://bit.ly/1QQC6yH

Turquoise pools, constantly replenished with water from its multi-tiered construction and receiving visitor awards and praise as a perfect sojourn spot outside Luang Prabang.

Tat Kuang Si goes beyond delivering a natural spot for seeing water crashing down on its limestone foundations. It is pretty hard to explain what it gives to visitors...so we'd better keep it as is and let you experience it yourself.
